Potential new owner seeking advice

Hi all,

I'm off to view a 2007 3.5 V6 LUX Estate petrol auto in a couple of days.

Given it's apparent condition and low mileage, there's a good chance I'll be tempted by it.

Other than the standard things to look out for when buying any car, is there anything specific to look out for with 300c's?

Thanks in advance 😉

With the first gen cars I'd be looking for service history, technical service bulletin & recall history and I'd closely inspect the front suspension bushes and linkages.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll be checking the service history.

I've checked dvsa for recalls/faults and the only things listed are for models manufactured in 2004 and 2008/2009.

So I'm guessing that's a good thing for a 2007 model?

It's a UK thing - Drivers & Vehicle Standards Agency.

You can check for manufacturer issued recalls/faults.

Also worth checking DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) for MOT (annual safety/emissions testing) history.

The 3.5 petrol engine seems to be much more reliable than its CRD cousin, although you suffer with fuel economy.

Thanks for info.

Fuel consumption is going to be pretty much the same as my current motor, so I'm all good there.

Yeah, already checked its MOT history. A small number of failures, but only for expected wear and tear. The worst it failed for was suspension/ball joint wear and tear. All failures retested and passed on same day or next.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

I am glad I went a day early to see it!

I have never seen an 11 year old car is such good condition!

Bodywork is spotless, underneath is super tidy, interior is immaculate. It has been cared for like a baby.

Only 47k on the clock.

Drives like a dream. Took it up to speed on the motorway, round plenty bends and roundabouts in the town. Not a single out of place noise, smooth as butter and handled fine.

Only things needed are replacement struts for the bonnet and boot. Dealer was aware and had already ordered them.

Deposit paid, will have the keys in less than a week.

Joy!
