You're talking about Chrysler's failed Wasted Spark System that fires one plug on the other cylinder bank (when on its exhaust stroke) at the same time it fires the one the coil is sitting on. Obviously they figured it out and in 2006> they did away with that and put one coil over both plugs per...
  2. Recommend high milage oil?

    General Discussion
I agree with CtCarl! How long have you owned the vehicle and what kind/weight oil has been used in the past? I've had the heads off all 3 of my Hemi's with approximately the following number of miles on each....05 LX-87K; 06 WK-113K: and 06 LX SRT8-169K, and they've all run the correct weight...
  3. Engine problems

General Discussion on Issues / Trouble Shooting
You can't remove the upstream O2's because they're used for engine fuel management. Folks have removed the cats. and downstream O2's though but, if you live in an area that does smog testing, you'll fail. For the most part, theoretically it is possible to any engine into any vehicle, but...

The Cummins are real "stump pullers".....love all that torque. I'd love to stuff one of those in an LX chassis if it would fit. Our Maggie is the garage queen and I drive the SRT the most and then the Jeep, especially in the winter. Where in Oregon are you? Two of my kids live in...

I am jealous of the low miles, but just think of the fun of driving it that you're missing out on.

That's a pretty low miler for an 06. I have a somewhat modified 05 Hemi Dodge Magnum (bought on Aug. 9, 04) with 87K on it and an 06 Chrysler 300C SRT8 with 169K on it. Wonder which one is the most fun to drive???
  7. IAT reads -40degF constant

General Discussion on Issues / Trouble Shooting
You may want to start a separate thread on that subject so we're not jacking this one. Other memberss will see it too and you'll be able to get lots of neat ideas, depending on your ultimate goals.
  8. IAT reads -40degF constant

General Discussion on Issues / Trouble Shooting
I am not familiar with the Predator readouts, so I can't comment on that. I built my own adjustable IAT years ago when some forum members were cussing and discussing the benefits or not of the so called, Power Wire which is a fixed resistor that lowers the IAT at all times by a certain amount...
  9. Widest Wheel

    Custom Wheels & Tires
Sorry guys, I mispoke on the wheel width. I thought 12 in. wide was a little much so I put it up on the rack today and measured a little closer than I did the other day. The Foose wheels are only 11 in. wide at the beads and 11.5 in. from outside (inner and outer face of the wheels) to outside.
  10. IAT reads -40degF constant

General Discussion on Issues / Trouble Shooting
If the -40* is accurate, you should be getting a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). I have an adjustable IAT on my 05 Hemi LX and if I set it to an "unreasonable" setting or move the setting too quickly, the light comes on immediately. I use my DashHawk to monitor the IAT. The PCM pulls readings...
  11. Widest Wheel

    Custom Wheels & Tires
I don't know how much your 17 differs from the early 300's, but I have 12 in. (bead to bead) Foose wheels on my 06 SRT8 with 275/40ZR-20's in the rear and 255/40ZR-20's in the front. No rubbing anywhere but it's really pushing it to the limit. Don't know if I could put a bigger tire on it...
  12. 2nd gear playing up.

I am pretty sure that all ATF+4 fluids are full synthetic.....at least I know that Castrol is for sure. Depending on how you're driving the vehicle, it'll sometimes take 20-30 miles to get the transmission fluid up to full operating temperature. I have trans. temp. gauges on both my NAG1...
  13. Defect in engine block

    1st Gen SRT8-Specific General Discussion
Have you actually seen this hole/leak. I find it hard to believe that, if this is true, it didn't show up before now unless it has been running water for coolant for the past 13 years. There's not a lot of corrosion going on if the correct coolant has always been used. A "pea" sized hole is...
  14. Normal battery voltage in a Chrysler 300c 2005

    General Discussion
The battery itself, when fully charged should be about 12.7 volts. With the engine running and charging the battery, it should read about 13-14.5 volts depending on the load on the battery and what it's current state of charge is at that time. It's almost always changing too, dependng on engine...
  15. Throttle

    1st Gen SRT8-Specific General Discussion
Is that all the mechanic did is put the scanner on it.....no more troubleshooting? It always amazes me that so many mechanics take what the scanner says as GOSPEL, when many times it's the farthest thing from the real problem(s). Not to jack the thread, but I had a similar issue with a shop...

  17. Throttle

    1st Gen SRT8-Specific General Discussion
Again, why did you replace the throttle body? Did you hook it up to a quality computerized diagnostic scanner to see if it was bad? Other engine management components may actually be causing thIs problem. IMO, a good scanner is worth its weight in gold with ANY newer computerized vehicle. It'll...
  18. Are Charger rims and 300 rims interchangeable?

    General Discussion
They should fit, but just make sure the tire diameters are close to the stock ones on your vehicle now. Performance and fuel economy will be adversely affected if you go with a larger diameter tire, especially with the V-6. Your odometer will also read incorrectly. I have larger than stock size...
  19. Ecm/pcm/Tcm? 08 challenger ecm/pcm help

General Discussion on Issues / Trouble Shooting
Welcome to the forum. ECM/PCM's are basically the same thing. Chrysler calls them Powertrain Control Modules (PCM). About the only reason I can figure he would have changed the PCM is that some of the very early ones (05's) had a PCM that didn't play well with all the aftermarket tuners. My 05...
  20. 2nd gear playing up.

You are correct, the temperature of the fluid on the chart dictates what the fluid level should be. Yes, the hole where the dipstick goes is where you add (or easily remove if overfull) the fluid....ATF+4 ONLY. Be sure to screw the little plastic cap back on the tube when finished..
