I just purchased my 300 in Idaho, and drove it home to Alaska (2700 miles). It was built in December, '05, and has the 5.7 liter. The first 1000 miles were great! But, when the temperature dropped to -20F and below, my tranny went into limp mode, which reset by turning the key off, for the first few times. But after a while, it went into perminent limp mode, and I was still 1400 miles from home, and now it was -35F. I ended up disconnecting the battery every time that I stopped, and if I was quick, I could get it up to 3rd or 4th gear before it would go back into limp mode. This would allow me to drive 60 to 80 mph still, but every time I put it in park, it would go to only first gear, and limit it to 2800 rpm. Not fun in Canada in January. After getting home, and putting the car in the warm shop, it is working fine, even at -15F. I have an appointment with the local dealer next week, I just hope that they can figure out why it did this, so It doesn't happen again. If any of you have had similar problems, let me know what they found, maybe it will help the dealer troubleshoot.

Thanks

Boy, oh boy... limp mode on the AlCan... NOT the place to do that for sure. Glad that you made it at least. Had it been me the fire inside might have warmed that tranny from above to work properly! LOL. Be sure to let us know how your local dealer deals with this... and how your purchase dealer helps (or doesn't).

no luck yet

I took the car in to my local dealer last week it was not acting up at the time. They found 22 trouble codes stored in the computer, but told me that because none of them were active, they couldn't fix anything. So I drove it home knowing it would happen again at the most inconvient time. It did, I took it back in yesterday car in limp mode again, but this time the check engine light was on. Hopefully they will find something and get this thing fixed. It's kind of frusterating for only having 3000 miles on it, and 22 trouble codes already.

Just spoke with the local dealer, sounds like it is the wiring to the speed sensor, they ordered a new harness, and hopefully this will fix it!

Still Limping!

Well the car is going back to the shop for the 3rd time. They replaced the wiring harness to the speed sensor, and the next day, it was acting up again. It quits shifting, goes into limp mode, then the check engine light comes on. The dealer couldn't figure out the problem, even with the check engine light on. I'm dropping it off again tomorrow. 3500miles, of which 2500 have been totally unreliable! Has anyone else had similar problems?
