1-2 Shift Hesitaion

I have been reading these forums for quite a while (while I'm waiting patiently for my 300C SRT8 to be built (living in Minnesota, I don't want mine until April or so)). I used to hear (see) lots of complaints about the hesitation in the 1-2 shift, but lately I haven't heard a peep about it. Does that mean that the TSB everyone was talking about worked (and all newly built cars don't have this issue)? Or has everyone dealt with it for so long that you don't even notice it anymore (though it's still there)?

Just curious,

My SRT8 is one of the cars the TSB applies to - built March 2005.

July 2005 after running it in, I noticed a severe case of WOT 1-2 hesitation when trying to run a sportbike at the lights ( Statistically I knew I might not win, but I also knew we both would enjoy it! :naughty: ).

In August 2005 the 6000 service came and I asked the Service Manager to apply the TSB 18-031-05.

My copy of the 1st service invoice shows:

CHECK CAUSE OF ENGINE HESITATION AT W.O.T. SEE-- TSB 18-031-05
081950590 Reprogram control module - check and adjust.

Anyway I did not work. I could not tell any difference when driving, and the 1-2 WOT hesitation was still there. Car was still very quick, and I was busy, so I waited till early November to have the next service work done, and to reapply the TSB - their response was "not a problem - sometimes the TSB flashes do not take".

My 2nd service invoice shows:

A REPAIR FOR HESITATION -- TSB 18-031-05
CAUSE: REFLASH

081950590 Reprogram control module - check and adjust.
1 4669020 LABEL -AU
1 4275086AB LABEL - GENE
FC:15
PART# 4669020
COUNT: 1

Immediately after this, the car drove like it had lost 500-1000lb of ugly fat. It is now has a "friskier" throttle responce at all RPM, and the WOT 1-2 change is now smooth, and virtually seamless.

For those who still have 1-2 hesitation, here is a precedent, with which to approach the service department for a second look at it - you won't regret it.

EDIT. New cars should not have any WOT 1-2 shift hesitation as they will have the latest software.
Anyone know when this running change would have been made?
