Hi All, I have a 2013 300s and lately have had an issue with the uconnect system where it seems to be stuck in loading the handsfree system when it is stuck like this it will not let any bluetooth device connect and you cannot use any handsfree commands to control the radio etc. The system does not change when the car is shutoff and the drivers door opened it stays in the loading hands free... i have tried disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery and then the system seems to go back to normal however a few hours later i was left with the same hands free loading issue. Any suggestions? i have an appointment booked with a local dealer for after christmas.

What kind of phone (make/model) are you attempting to connect? Have you tried to connect a different phone w/ any luck--like say, maybe your wife's or girlfriend/friend's? Assuming that a different phone produces the same affect, then Uconnect's B/T module is probably malfunctioning... Cool_V!!! Where ya @???

i am using a samsung galaxy s4 i have had the phone paired to it for a while but only recently have had this problem i have upgraded the phone software to 4.3 but it has paired successfully since. my wife has an iphone and i previously had an iphone paired with the car but i haven't tried the other phones since i have had the issue because all the buttons that even allow you to attempt a new bt connection are greyed out and don't work i don't want to keep digging the battery out of the trunk and messing with the connection just to get it working for a few hours. last time i got my samsung connected it paired and worked flawlessly for phone only but would not recognize the phone for an audio connection and i had previously connected and listened to music that way.

You know what? Your Uconnect is definitely malfunctioning then... I also have a Samsung GS4 and I know you recently had one or two Android firmware updates automatically pushed to your phone, like mine...but, I (as well as my wife--she also has a GS4) have had zero problems w/ our phones and Uconnect (MB COMAND for hers). Bet you there's something wrong w/ your Uconnect... Keep your appointment and have the service tech check it out. Why are you waiting til after Christmas though? I'd show up tomorrow--while everyone's out shopping! :p

EDIT: Just thought, maybe deleting your device from Uconnect (and vice versa--deleting Uconnect from your phone) and repairing would work...? Also, double check all your B/T settings on your device and Uconnect and be sure nothing has changed or looks peculiar... Worth a try, I guess, before you get to the dealer. 3CF calling Cool_V_300C! Definitely sounds like the bluetooth module is having some problems. The GS4 should connect easily with Uconnect.

Since you've already disconnected the battery, that should have reset the related modules, I was going to suggest pulling the fuses (they really need a reset option on the Uconnect system).

I'd also delete the profile and re-pair the phone, but I doubt that's the issue.

Let us know what happens at the dealer.

These are really good ideas. Sometimes after an update things change and a good way to try and clear them out is to go through the pairing process again.

I really wish there was a reset option on the Uconnect just to clear out all data and return the unit to factory settings.

Sounds like it would be a good idea for users to delete an existing connection on both phone and Uconnect before performing an OS upgrade on the phone. That way you start from scratch when pairing after the update. I will try this when I get ready to do the update on my new phone.

Press and hold the volume and tuner buttons at the same time. I'm not sure if this action resets the Uconnect but it reboots the system.

Which volume and tuner buttons? On the steering wheel? Is it the up, down, or select?

The volume knob in the console is the pwr button. I can only push that button once I push the tuner button or the system turns off.

There doesn't seem to be a reset option in the "engineering" mode either, just information about the firmware versions the system is running on.

I pulled the radio and amp fuses, then disconnected the battery, but there should be a straight-forward reset option.

UPDATE: I had my appointment with the dealer today. 1. there is no update for my system. 2. they apparently found that my hands free module is bad and they are ordering a new one. It is on backorder and will take 2 weeks to come in. There was another dealer that had one in stock however it was being held for a customer. Makes me wonder if this is a more common problem then one would expect.

Man you guys are great thanks for all the assistance.

Sounds like you both have problems with the hands-free module in the car. Do you know the build dates of your cars, maybe you can compare with the OP? Could be they had a bad run.

Definitely would suggest going back to the dealer.

Not so happy

Hello everybody. I just joined this group and I am not very happy with everything that is happening with my car, but the latest one is also the problem you are discussing here: my hands free is not working and I get a message that the hands free is uploading. So I went to have my car check and for diagnosis I was charged $200 and still didn't get any answer, just that the blue tooth module is not working...I bought this car 1 year ago as a certify pre-owned vehicle and I had so many problems is not funny. Does anybody knows how much is to change that module, and where could you get it?

You have a '12 MY and they charged you $200 just to check it out??? That REALLY sounds fishy to me! When you bring a car into service because it's not doing what it's suppose to do (performing as designed), THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSE TO CHARGE YOU TO CHECK IT OUT...WTF???

hands-free system loading

I had the issue where the phone was connected with bluetooth but I couldn't hear the calls. I played around and realized it had nothing to do with the bluetooth. I could get it to play music and it always connected. I did disconnect the battery last night and while the "hands-free system loading" message went away, the sound issue didn't.

Anyway, I went to the dealer (the car had 35,999 miles woopeee!) and they were able to duplicate the problem. They then said there was some software updates they could install but they weren't hopeful. After the updates it still wasn't working properly so they replaced the hands-free module which they had in stock. It took about 1.5 hours and was under warranty so no charge. So far, it's working fine but only time will tell.

The receipt I got is a little vague, but it stated "Found HFM short" and was replaced. I guess that means they replaced the Hands-free module.

Hope this helps.

I too had this issue with my 2013 300c. BlueTooth was unable to make a connection to device.

With my car still under the 3year/36,000mile warranty, I took it to my local Chrysler dealer. I told the service writer what the symptoms were and what I suspected what part of the system has failed and requested to have the part (BlueTooth/Telematics module) ordered. They looked at me with a puzzled look and refused to order the part until their own tech completed a diagnostic. So I agreed to have them do a diagnostic on the system. At the same time, I requested to have the GPS updated with the latest upgrades since I was already there and while it was still under warranty.

An hour and a half later, after the diagnostics was completed (or what looked more like tsb search on the techs laptop: video recorded on my dash cam), the dealer finally agreed to order the Telematics unit. This of course necessitated another trip back to the dealer once the unit arrived.

3 days later, when the Telematics unit arrived from the warehouse, I drove back the the dealership to have the unit installed. Upon arrival at the dealership, I was told that it would take them the entire day to complete the installation because they would have to disassemble the dash and the center console. I was told to leave the car with them for overnight.

I told them I knew what it took to R&R the unit and I would just wait in their customer lounge until they got it done. I finally took delivery of my updated car 3-1/2 hours later (although my dash cam shows the actual job only took half an hour to complete).

Before leaving the service department, I requested to be shown the upgraded BlueTooth operation. I am very happy with the results. The BT connection time is improved. It connects alot quicker than before. Some of the screen graphics are different also. After driving around town, I also noticed the secondary GPS graphics to be more lifelike. Overall, with realistic expectations, my experience with my local Chrysler dealership was positive.

So they told me that the hands free module needs to be replaced (big surprise). I also had them check out an HVAC problem. The system would just pump out hot air and wouldn't level out. Turns out the blending doors were not working properly. So they are ordering parts and they will fix both issues under warranty.
