22" Tires - Pirelli Scorpion vs. Nitto NT420S

I'm about to order my 22" TIS wheels with 265/35/22 tires, but now can not decide on what tires to run. I've had experience with the Pirelli (295/30/22 on my F-150) and had no problems with them, but I LOVE the tread pattern of the new Nittos. Does anyone have any comment on the new Nittos?

It took me about a month to FINALLY decide on the TIS 01s and now I can't decide on the rubber!!!

All comments are appreciated.

What do you want to know about the tires? There are some real knowledgeable members here. If you indicate what's important to you, it would help. Here are some areas:

  • Ride Quality
  • Noise
  • Dry Handling
  • Wet Handling
  • Wear Rate
  • Price
  • Appearance
  • Warranty

Thanks NR,
Honestly, I would like to know any and everything about the new Nittos. My main concern is the overall QUALITY of the tire. I realize that the ride quality isn't going to be all that great with such a low profile tire; both tires are rated the same wear rate; and I would imagine that noise and handling should be close to the same.

Again, my main concern is the overall QUALITY of the tire. The ONLY reason I'm considering the Nittos is because of the aggresive tread pattern. I've never bought a tire b/c of its tread pattern and I don't want it to be a stupid mistake.

Thanks again for any comments
Get the Nitto

I have a set of Nitto NT420s on 22" panther boost. I had them for about 2 weeks now and I love them. the first day I got them they road kind of rough but after a day it rides fine. If I was you I would get the Nitto. any ? let me know.
I'm running a 255/30/22 Nitto and the ride is outstanding. Yes, the ride is very nice. I want to go with the 265/35/22 Pirelli but it wouldn't fit. I'm happy with the ride the look and handling. Here is a pic of my car, it's the third one down.

You were having problems with the 265/35/22 fitting? That's the first I've heard of that. I really appreciate you guys posting your comments. I think I will go with the Nittos.

Thanks again
Oh, one more question. . . I know that Nitto has a tire out that combats the inner wear of tire due to the negative camber from dropping the car. Does this tire help with that issue? I have already installed my eibachs. . .
^^^ that would be great seeing as how i'm gonna drop my 300 on h&r's, and tires ain't exactly cheap!
i ended up purchasing the nitto's (420's) and so far they seem great. of course i've only had them on since 11o'clock this morning and have only driven 20 miles on them. much better than i thought they would be, ride isn't too harsh.
