Got a question about the speed rating on stock tires. I have a 2013 300S 5.7 Hemi sitting on stock 20s. The tires all say 245/45ZR20. I'm looki g to buy new tires, but have one question. Do the new tires HAVE to say "ZR", or can I get away with "R"?

Your tire just won't have the speed rating as the zr. Make sure the ply rating is the same

Not necessarily. The speed rating isn't always listed like that with the size. Usually it's in the data area with load rating.

Ex tyre fitter here. ZR is something that has stuck from the days where there were no ratings over 150mph. ZR just meant the tyre was high performance and suitable for use for over 150mph. Now we have V and above rated tyres it's really pointless. Just make sure your load and speed on the new tyres match or exceed tyre placard and don't lose any Zs if your tyre has lost it.

No, they don't, but if you drive fast frequently, you should get them. I have ZR tires on both my hopped up 5.7 Jeep and my mildly modified 300C SRT8. I've had both of them up around 140-145 mph several times. On my "main" highway vehicle, a mildly hopped up 5.7 Magnum, I run regular R rated tires, as I seldom take it much over 100 mph. See signature and showcase.
