well my lil brother juss had his srt4 lemon lawed...and he's signing the papers right now for a 2004 wrx sti and i can alreaady hear him now...O you just wait herb...well my question is what do you all think.....srt8...or sti 2.5L/300-hp turbocharged F-4, DOHC, 4 valves/cyl..?should i keep my mouth shut or open up a can of woopazz on him>?

I gave a so-called "Hot" WRX 3 tries and he could not beat me. Of course, his car would have done better if he'd let me drive it, because the poor kid couldn't shift for shit!

They can launch but if I'm a little cold this monster simply roars and they're gone!

It's all motor and its really under rated.

Those WRX's are just evil

Something like $1k and they run mid 12's no problem. I was looking at them before the Magnum. I still like them, and if I had to get another car for some reason and I couldnt get another LX it would be a WRX STi.

I had both an 04 & 05 STI. Early 04's had detonation issues. Serious oil consumption/blown motors reported. Constant checking of oil levels an ABSOLUTE must. 4-5 shift and transmission problems are a problem for a lot of people. 06 models have trans upgrades to adress this issue. To match our trap speeds will generally require a larger turbo with fuel/engine management. Stock for stock they are down on power but have better handling. Average STI is 13.4 to 13.7 @ 100 mph. 1.7-1.8 60 ft times are common.

You do realize that a WRX ('hot' or not....) and a WRX-STi are not the same, right?

Not to take away from your car, I honestly don't know if an SRT8 will beat an STi or not, but don't assume you can beat an STi just because you outran a "regular" WRX whether or not the kid could shift.

i love my 06 srt8 it runs 13.4. but my 02 wrx auto runs 12.2 with a 132,000 on it and it burns no oil<thanks mobil 1>

The STi will run about a 13.2 stock, so out of the box they're comparable. It's very easy to mod the Subies to make a LOT more power, which is part of the reason that they're so attractive to young buyers. There are a lot of very, very fast WRX's and WRX STI's out there, but the driver would still have to be on top of his game to beat an SRT8--the enormous torque of the Chrysler, along with the fact that you can't really screw up the shifts if you leave it in "D," makes the SRT the favorite in most realistic scenarios.

In a straight line, you'd beat him 4 out of 5 times, and this is assuming he can drive.

On a road course you'd probably get smoked.

stock for stock the cars are pretty equal on the speed side of the equation, but he's got you on handling, which btw does have ALOT of room for improvement on our cars.

You've got Magnaflows and CAI and that'll help, but the wise money spent would be on your suspension. Horsepower means nothing if your car can't turn and the Subaru can DEFINATELY turn
