Good morning, I have the following problem: the gear selector moves without any problem among gears (P, R, N, D), but the problem is that the gears don´t shift as they should in reality - sometimes it shifts without a problem for the first time and sometimes I have to shift with gear selector several times between P and R and D to make the car "really" shift (on EVIC gears changing well and corespond with selector) - I try to push the brake as hard as possible. Sometimes happen to me that I shift from R to D and the car is still moving back. I have noticed that when I have a P and press the brake, I can hear "click" in selector box - is it some type of unlocking mechanism or can it have a connection with this problem? I also noticed the longer I drive the worse this problem is - once I had to shift for almost 10 minits between P and D to make my car shift on D and move :-( What do you guys think about this? (car is chrysler 300C 3.0 CRD year 2007) Thanks in advance ::smile::

Hello MADDOG, thanks for your reply. I didn´t have my oil level and quality checked but I will. Firstly I tried to figure out where the problem should be - whether in the gear selector or in the transmission. According to your answer I should focus on the transmission - do you think that hotter oil in the transmission (after longer drive) can cause this problem worse? Does it worth the time to also check the gear selector?

Shifting performance will degrade further with older fluid that has thinned and is not present in sufficient quantity when it gets hotter.

Checking the fluid level or changing the fluid and filter would be my first actions.

Are there any check engine lights illuminated on your dash?

Ok, I definitelly have my transmission checked and have its fluid changed as soons as possible. There are no lights on dashboard and no error codes - everything looking ok. I had a little time so I looked in my gear selector and found that there is a pink thing missing and also no shifter cable lock - so the cable has little clearance around it. Gonna repair those but I don´t think they would change my problem with changing gears. Will see. I let you know :)
