according to car & driver...

...one brief mention of a "hot rod" SRT version is mentioned, which is slated for the next model year and according to the mag will at least consist of a suspension upgrade. Couple more horses wouldn't seem out of the question...

suspension, tires, rims (20 inch), brakes, possible engine to 6.1 (doubtful), but a supercharger is likely.

Figure output around 450 hp and 0-60 times in the sub 5 second range. Like 4.8sec

30rwhp isn't out of the question on this motor just from intake, exhaust, and timing/fueling mods. I'd love someone to put together a high-flow exhaust that's nearly as quiet at cruise and idle and rips a bit more at WOT.

The current rumor on the SRT-8 is that it will have a positive-displacement blower. That certainly couldn't hurt. :)

That said, there's a lot in the 300C that might have to be reworked to put that power down efficiently. I have my doubts about the strength of the differential, in particular. The jury's still out on the transmission as well: need to do some reading there.

DOdge Magnum srt-8 or Chrysler 300c

Going to be trading in my 2001 Sebring coupe (wife ride) this Summer/Fall.

I am going to get either of these vehicles.

Help me decide.....

The Dodge Magnum is out but the SRT-8 in either the 300C or Magnum is not.

Both offer similar performace...it comes down to wanting either a wagon or a sedan.

Also..sometime this fall Dodge will have their own version of the 300C with the Dodge grill and rims. I don't think it looks as classic.

Is this just speculation? The Fall is only 4/5 months away. New models are only/always introduced at a Big Industry Car Show. The next type of Industry Car Show is not until the LA Auto Show in Dec 2004. I can not invision the introduction of a new car in the Fall let alone the beginning of production. New cars in the US are premiered only at:

LA Auto Show - Dec 2004
NAIAS Detroit - Jan 2005
Chicago Auto Show - Feb 2005
New York IAS - Apr 2005

srt4b, will this car, either the Magnum or 300 SRT-8 be a car for you or the wife. If wife, will she like to drive a tuned car with a stiff rock hard suspension?
Well before the Sebring she drove a gen1 acr sedan for 2-3 years. We have decided to go BIG on our next car for her and obviously the new 300/Magnum platform is the best bang/buck around. Besides her job really calls for a mid-high level ride and these new DCX vehicles are perfect for her.

I have had horrid deprecation previously on most of her DC products, hopefully this one will be different.

425Hp SRT-8!!

Just got my new MotorTrend. Page 30 tells of the SRT-8 300C in early 2005! Thats only like 8 months! It says it will be 6.1 liters and make 425hp naturally aspirated. Suspension and wheel-and-tire upgrades also. Maybe I'll wait now!

SRT-8, I think I will also wait for the Magnum SRT-8 version or at least a Magnum with SRT Sport Package. I speculate they will introduce the SRT-8 300 and Magnum at either the LA Auto Show in December 2004 or the Detrorit Auto Show in January.

I think 45K would be a responsbile price given the proformance to price ratio compared to like the Audi RS6, E55, M5 or the CTS-V. I hope Chrysler does it right! There should be a section on the board just about the SRT8 models. This should become a really hot topic!!
