I did it and left the amber light for now. Maybe I am just lazy. I will get around to completing the job when it gets warmer out.

having a led that blinks requires load resistors or your blinking will be waay to fast and cut the life of the led in half. But changing from amber to red bulb will work it looks tacky when you brake IMO when a red bulb comes on in the clear. But that is your choice. I would opt to re-wire
