Hi,
I know this is the 300c forum but I'm sure there is no difference with this question.
I was roaming through my EVIC and saw a picture indicating the car in RWD or AWD.
My car is AWD. I'm curious why it would ever show it was in RWD mode on the EVIC.
It is usually showing it in RWD.
For fun i hit the 'sport' button and the EVIC changed to AWD.
Is this false information? I was assuming the car was always in AWD and there was no way to change that.
I've searched the web to no avail. If you can answer my question, great, if you can point me to a web page that discusses it, even better.

Interesting observation. Seems to me an AWD drive car should show AWD on the EVIC.

In the AWD model Chrysler 300's the AWD Status displays a vehicle Icon with four wheels highlighted and "AWD" if All Wheel Drive is activated. It displays a vehicle ICON with two wheels highlighted and "RWD" if All Wheel Drive is inactive and vehicle is operating in 2 wheel drive / rear wheel drive.

Because the AWD system is automatic and cannot be controlled by the driver in some configurations the vehicle is simply advising the driver which mode the vehicle is in RWD or AWD.

I have a 2012 Chrysler 300S AWD, this car on my dashboard never shows RWD, it is always showing AWD. Is that problem? I still have a power train warranty on this. I am also getting a chatter noise with a rumble like a vehicle in 4wd, but the rumble and chatter (sounds like a small air compressor)s tops at 20mph on decel.

Hi mkillinger,

If you have not had a problem with the vehicle, the AWD should not be making a difference. However, if you're noticing a new sound like you described, it may be a good idea to have your Chrysler dealership inspect the vehicle to make sure everything is working as it should.
