Hi Guys
I am on my 6th or 7th 300 and this is the 1st 300c with a hemi.
How do I know when the motor is running on 4 or 6 cylinders.

it is impossible for me to tell as the shift between the different modes is so smooth.

It's very difficult but it reverts to 4 cylinders once a steady state cruise or constant speed is reached. The tell tale sign for stock cars is usually a slight change in exhaust note.

Some cars are equipped with an "EcoMode" indicator light but I'm not sure if the 2nd gen cars have that or not.

Affirmative, gsatz...that's your bogie! Green "ECO" light indicates 4-cylinder shut-off...or MDS (Multi Displacement System), as it's officially referred to, is engaged.
