My apoplogies for not spending the time to hunt for this, if it HAS happened to others, but here's the prob; Owned it since mid June last year, only just NOW, on the drive home, has it sputtered profusely when puttin da pedal to da metal. NEVER before today has it happened, and still a quarter tank! Spun the tires, and or floored it many times before now, with the same level of fuel or less................STILL never before today!
Any suggestions?

Was the car cold? Was it in a turn? If so, it could even be computer induced. If you've ever accelerated hard when the car was cold, you know it really drops the RPM's and shifts slowly. I have on occasion combined that with a quick hairpin turn onramp to the freeway when I leave work and the cold vehicle acceleration plus the lateral force makes the car literally die, it takes it a few seconds to recover. It scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. If you were already going fwy speed and this happened, then it would not be that issue.

I've had the trans shift to a gear that put the engine over its rev limiter... the engine of course then shutdown until the trans shifted up a gear and then whole thing recovered.

Very annoying IMO.

Can you say "Powertrain Control Module"? a. k. a. "PCM"
Mine went at about 5500 miles. Stood on it at 30 MPH to accelerate onto super slab and 'blah', fell on its nose. Lifted the pedal and ran normal. No check engine light. Went straight to the stealership. Took three days to get the part in.

TODAY, which can seem odd, but isn't, had become normal once again (SMOOTH power during acceleration DID happen when da pedal was put to da metal .........what has happened numerous times in the past, since I've had this vehicle (late June, last year), was an experience where the engine cut out about 6 times or so. This happened when I shifted from reverse (usually when typically, and slowly, I was backing out of a parked position), then to the drive position......engine would just.......with MODERN technology, DIE!!! I had to, in the easiest effort, put the shifter onto neutral! I was able to start it, but when I put the shifter into drive, it'd either take about 5 to 10 secs to engage........................... OR not at all.I'd then have to put it back into "P", then put it BACK into Drive before the tranny'd engage, which might be up to 3 or 4 secs.........no B.S.!
WEIRD.............................? Yes, but again, no bullshit!
Patial piont is, outside of Chrysler, I've only owned the OTHER U.S. cars; Ford, AND GM products. They've ALL fucked me over with some inconsiquencial nagging probs!
ANYWAY, thank you VERY much for the PCM suggestion, & it probably IS that, but today................it's oddly back to DC normalcy! I can floor today, and not experience last night's.....................BLAH!

p.s. A few times since ownership, once down, I haven't been able to close the driver's side BACK window for an hour or so...................AND then, just as suddenly, I could. ALSO, one of the 300C's appreciated conveniences, is the driver's side AUTO up window, BUT, and beleive it or not, MY 300C couldn't offer it for about 3 days!
Now THIS has no berring on what MANY humans go through around the planet..................................BUT, when paying for, & expecting quality, I've always felt I've had the right to complain!
UH OH!!

So, tell us, when are you taking it in to be serviced? It's about that time.

There is a TSB for the Reverse problem.. I cannot find the TSB number at the moment, Dealerconnect is down... I got the flash done because i was having a problem with surging when the car was cold, but it also talks about the reverse to drive problem you are (were) having. This might help other things also. As soon as Dealerconnect works again, i will have the TSB number.

EDIT: guess Dealerconnect doesnt like to be yelled at.. finally started working. TSB is 18-031-04.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
This bulletin addresses one or more of the following conditions:
1. Eliminates stumble and hesitation when aggressively/quickly shifting between reverse
and drive following a engine start-up.
2. Rough Idle after a hot start.
3. Long crank times on hot starts.
4. Intermittent oil pressure light illumination and chime while accelerating from a stop.
5. Improved shifting at low vehicle speeds.
6. Following a cold start, the coolant gauge stays at “C” cold and does not follow the
increase in coolant temperature, with a TCM DTC U110B - Lost Engine Coolant
Message or U1402 - Implausible Engine Temperature Signal Received or a PCM
DTC P0116 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Performance set, and the
cooling fans running continuously. A key cycle would resume normal operation but the
DTC will remain set.
7. Improved fuel economy for European NA1 emissions.
8. MIL illumination for DTC P0116 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
Performance.
9. MIL illumination for DTCP0139 - O2 Sensor 1/2 Slow Response.
10. MIL illumination for DTC P0159 - O2 Sensor 2/2 Slow Response.
11. MIL illumination for DTC P0197 - Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit Low.
NOTE: To further improve shift performance it may be necessary to reprogram the
Transmission Control Module (TCM) with new software. Perform Service
Bulletin 21-009-04.

If there is a need to restart your engine be sure to cycle the key to the LOCK position before restarting. Transmission engagement may be delayed up to 10 seconds after restart if the key is not cycled to the lock position first. (p. 220 in your owners manual)

I think the window problem has to do with the battery reconnect procedure. I forget what the steps actually are. But I've had window "issues" after reconnecting the battery and not doing the procedure. Everything does return to normal after a certain amount of time anyways. At least for me I think it has. lol I've only disconnected the battery a few times.
