I accendintly pushed the 87 ocatne(Regular) on the pump instead of 89. I had put less then 3 gallons in when I realized that I pished the wrong grade. Will this damage the engine any.

jj, did you have a bad weekend baby, or are you just bored and mischievous? :slap:

bored and mischievous

long 'butt' weekend of moving crap for Rita, moving it back since nothing much happened near me, running to and from the frickin' office for network backup and reboot. Sooooo, since I am stuck here at the office again, thought I might have a little sarcastic fun!! :wink1:

well........I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you need to go to the service department IMMEDIATELY. You need to have a new engine installed and you'll probably have to replace your transmission as well. Unfortunately, you probably need new seats (fronts only) and a new headliner. It's quite possible that you'll need to replace your rear deck speakers and install the rearseat DVD player to reverse the effects of the gas you used.........

I have heard that you can do a quick fix by tinting your windows instead, and if you install some 15" subs(you'll need at least 3) in your trunk, you can use any kind of gas you want to including deisel :wink1:

BTW: don't listen to anything I've said...........I'm just being an idiot and you're fine.....although I have heard that if you install the wood grain interior kit, you can run your car on maple syrup :silly: :silly:

If it's not pinging or knocking (and it won't with only 3 gallons of 87), you're fine. BUT, for those who always run 87 (and who always will no matter what I say but oh well), the way your car prevents itself from pinging and knocking is by retarding the timing. This hurts mpg and hp. Also, and I don't know why, an old Mercedes shop manual I have says (back before knock sensors) that when retarding the timing for low octane gas, don't run full throttle. I don't know why, but that's what it says, so there must be some reason.

I've ran some 87 thru mine, i much prefer the 89 punch. It seems like it accelerates much more strong on the 89 octane.
