My air bag light was on interminably. I took it in today and the dealer had to go across town to get the part. I will inform you all on this thread as to what it was.

While I was there I accidentally bought a Pacifica. Ops!!! I told the sales manger that it would be nice to have something to drive during the winter and next thing I know…

Oops? I bought one 2 weeks after my 300C because I traded in my wife's minivan and she tells me 2 weeks later, "I miss my minivan". The Pacifica is a stylish Minivan/SUV/Station wagon. I feel cool driving it and it rides and drives like a car. It was the Insurance Institute's "Best pick" for safety. It has crappy MPG and is very heavy so therefore it has weak acceleration-otherwise a great car!

Sounds like the Pacifica needs a Hemi!

My airbag light for the passenger's side came on also, with a "hard code" failure - one that made the red light on the dash flash and the "ding, ding, ding" warning chime I recall the owner's manual saying meant it was SERIOUS about whatever problem it thought it had found. Shortly thereafter, it went off.

The light came on intermittently over the next several weeks - always the same as the first time, with a passenger in the passenger's front seat. The day the "hard code" was set was also the day we had our LoJack with Early Warning installed. I looked in the owner's manual, and it indicated that such a warning light could be caused by something being placed under the seat... Duh, like maybe a friggin' LOJACK!?!??

So I called LoJack. After being on hold for 10 minutes, they came back and said I'd need to take it to the dealer and that they would have a LoJack technician out to the dealership to look at it.

Well, I took it in last week finally. And they worked on it all day and found nothing other than the hard code set back in August. And LoJack said their stuff was fine.

Go figure.

So the dealer cleared the codes and said let us know if it comes back. I don't like gremlins crawling around popping their heads up with unexplained reasons! Always seems like these rear their little ugly heads again at the most inopportune moments, doncha know...

So that's MY airbag story. Stay tuned for hopefully NOTHING! :D

The air bag thing happen to me too!!!

I took it in to the dealer a couple of times and they said that they couln't find anything wrong with it. I live in the hills and when I'm comming down the hill and as I slow down at the signal I notice the light come on sometimes. I also have lojack and don't know if that may have been an issue.

On a side note my mom has lojack and the early warning system on her car and she has had nothing but problems with that early warning system, calling the house at night and leaving a bunch of automated emails saying the the car might have me moved or stolen without permission and she would look outside and it was still there.

Lojack came to the house like 3 times to fix it and after awhile it would still act up LOL. I'm glad I didn't get that early warning plus the little boxes on the key ring kinda get in the way. KEEP US POSTED ;)

I am having the same problem with my passenger airbag light! I thought it had somehing to tdoo with the seat position. The yellow passenger airbag warning stays on and the red one on the dash willchime and come on every so often. One thing I noticed is that it seems to activate when I'm doing something with my u-connect? I need to get this checked out soon. The dealer will probably say it's because of the mods!

Must be the 20% tint is activating the Peril-Sensitive Airbag. Seriously, I'm not getting the chime, but I notice I get the yellow "passenger" airbag indicator if I press lightly on the passenger seat and also when I lean over the driver's seat to get something in the back with the seatbelts off. No Lojack. I imagine that's the 2-stage airbag function. If you can't get that to happen it must really be defective.

The dealer thought they got it fixed. It's back on again. As for the passenger side, the only time I see it go on is when I set my laptop and other geekly gear in that seat.

As far as the passenger seat, that is the way it's suppose to operate. It senses if there is a small child in the seat and disables the airbag. Unfortuantely, it can't differentiate a laptop, briefcase, or bag of groceries.

I talked to my dealer, it happened to me too:

ME: " So the stupid air bag indicator light keeps coming on and going off a few seconds later, it does this like once every minute forever (at the time of the call at least)"

THEM: "The passenger air bag light?"

ME: "Yes"

THEM: "Um, have you had any 'larger' individuals in the passenger seat recently?"

ME: "Hmm, actually a 6'7" 320lb. guy was riding there last night."
Yeah, this started right after he got out of the car.

THEM: "We've had a few 300s come in with this. Apparently heavier-set individuals will mess up the calbiration of the seat sensor that weighs them when they get in. The fix is to get the seat recalbirated and a firmware flash of some sort should remedy the problem."

ME: "Ok, so am I gonna have to recalbirate my seat every time a big dude sits there or a...."

THEM: "No, absolutely not. A firmware/computer update should take care of it."

That's the details I remember. He seemed to skate around the idea that there was a written guaranteed process somewhere in the Chrysler records to take care of this. Mine has gone away after a day. I'm sure we can expect freaky little things like this to happen being the first year run of a car like this. Have you seen the shop manual to these things? It's like 4 volumes totalling around 10" thick!!

Boy, I am glad that I found this thread. I too had only one instance of the air bag light going on and it was three weeks ago and has not happened again. I hope that I am as lucky as you and it fixed itself

When I started the car at the dealer it was fine... it drove fine and all... I get home, I showered, got dressed to go out to dinner, when I was leaving it took me 3 times turning the key for it to start, as if no fuel is going through when the car is off for over an hour... thats one... now on the way back, the bing-bing alarm kept going off every few minutes and the passanger air bag off signal kept turning on and off :( I don't think it was a return since it only had 16 miles on it, but I guess is just deffective, what a pain.... I will make up a lie to people I know that I have to go back for paperwork cause all the anti chrysler people I know, will say "I told you so" :(

Yeah, I always have my seatbelt on :( now the problem with the starting is exact each time.. so far is 3 for 3... if the car is off for more than an hour, it takes exactly 3 tries for it to start, the first two times, it acts like its going to start, but the rpm never kicks in until the third time... :( pisses me off :(

Also, before starting, put the EVIC into "super mode." To do this, hold down both the "music note" button and the "N" (nagivation) button at the same time for about 5 seconds. Use the up/down buttons and cycle through the display until you get to the one that shows you the RPMs. Now start the engine and see if it says the engine is running (RPMs change). The "needles" on our analog displays are actually computer controled. The EVIC will show you the raw data. Maybe one of your computers is a little hookie.

It may be that you car just needs to be "power cycled" (rebooted). To do this, remove the negative batter terminal for 15 minutes. Then reconnect. If you do this, you'll need to recalibrate the ESP (actually the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS)) by doing this:

1. Start the engine
2. Center the wheel.
3. Turn the wheel all the way to the left until the internal stop is met, then turn the whell all the way to the right until the internal stop is met.
4. Center the wheel.
5. Stop the engine.

You will also have to recalibrate the power windows by putting the window in the full UP position. Keep holding the switch in that position for 1 second and the drive the window all the way down.

This will reset other things in the car as well. Hopefully, it will solve your problems.

Holly c.... did I buy a laptop or a car? :) being a computer eng... I was on the right track, I was looking around on how to reset the comp through a menu... thanks for all of the tips... right now I just tried something someone else mentioned... remember I just got the car yesterday so I've only had it for half a day... well the other person recommended to push in all the fuses both at front and back pannels...I actually found like 4 fuses that actually clicked in. Then they also recommended to try to ther key and check, well, I sort of did both at the same time, pushed the fuses and used to other key, whichever it was, it worked :) WOOHOOO... the car has been off for 8 hours and it turned on normal on the first try... I will let it seat again for about 2 hours and I will use the other key now that the fuses are all pushed in... Thanks for everything guys and gals...

I just got my car out from the dealer today for the same problem with the air bag light. The dealers simply recalibrated it and it works fine now. I got a free rental out of it and took the Ram Hemi out 4 wheeling. That made up for the troubles.
