Granted, I live in Northern California, and maybe it's just my imagination. But I'd swear that I've seen glares of disdain, usually from middle aged white women in Toyotas or Volvos. Of course, most women that notice me do glare at me these days, and they are usually middle aged, given that I am now invisible to most women under 30. But, last night it happened again. Mom in a Miata in a crowded Safeway parking lot. I stop to ease her way by me (always the gent) and smile at her and she gave me this "I cant believe you need a car that big and aggressive! and are using so much more than your share of the worlds resources" look.

Of course, I could be wrong and it might just be my imagination. In any event, I find it more amusing than "troubling."

Must be a Calif. thing. Around here with huge dually pick-ups, Excursions, H2's, etc., the C is hardly large and certainly doesn't use as many resources.

Well the 300C is a manly car, it appeals to a lot of people of all ages , but not to everybody. I would think it appeals to women too but only to those, who like big and/ or fast cars, like SUVs and agressive sport cars. With the way it looks it might offend the average Minivan driving soccer mom or the type of women who has a " Greenpeace" or " I brake for animals" bumper sticker on her Corolla. But these were not the people Chrysler had in mind when they made the 300 and you can't please everybody.

jjs is right, here in texas everything is big. Texas is by far the truck capitol of the world. Ford, dodge, chevy, and even toyota (girls truck) all have a texas edition pickup. That Miata Witch should go ride of on her broom if she wants to save this planet. Another note her mazda gets 28 mpg highway compared to 25 mpg on this 300c. Based on horsepower to mpg ratio this 300c is more economical.

Not a Cali thing, I get smiles back and thumbs up always. I'm curious as to why everyone assumes the disapproving looks are related to resource consumption, I'd be more inclined to think it's because of the 'gangsta' ties... or maybe just someone having a bad day.

Anyway, I am a (ahem) middle-aged woman, no bumper sticker will ever adorn one of my cars, I like 'em fast and agressive (my cars) and I'd smile back at ya in a heartbeat!! :)

Hemeee:

I'm definitely no woman hate-a. People are so uptight out there, and have "bad days" because they are in such a hurry and are in task mode. I do it myself. Many actually enjoy that anxiety, I'm convinced. Anyway, I was mostly kidding, hence the "maybe it's just my imagination" angle. Plus living in the Bay Area, I like to poke a little fun at the lefties. But they're all God's children! (I hate that cliche).

Mostly get positive feedback, especially from the young dudes. I let my 12 yr. old son drive it in an empty arena parking lot and gun it to 65 or so a couple times, with me beside him of course. He was the man that day.
And I'd probably get more positive attention from the ladies, except two issues there:

1. i'm invisible to the youngstas
2. i'm married (DOH!)

I get the following looks :

The "You freakin bastard. I hate you while I have to drive a minivan" look
or
The "Holy sh!t! Thats awesome" look with wild arm pointing out the window.
or
The "I DRIVE A LEXUS! (uh with a V6)" look
or my favorite
The "Honey, must be one of those hip hop ******** driving that car" look

Heck, you look at the dimensions of the 300's, and it is actually
smaller then the 300M of last year, and is not the largest by a good
margin. The car has a solid proud look to it. We are getting as good
a gas mileage as ANYTHING out there, of our size, and BETTER
then most. So let them look, we got nothing to apologize for.

I get all kinds of looks from other motorists and pedestrians. Quite frankly, I don't care what's going on in their minds.

One thing I do know - unless they are driving a $50K+ machine, I doubt they are getting the Fun Per Gallon that I enjoy every day driving this magnificant automobile.

Hey, she's just probably just bitching because her socialist, pro tax, anti rich, anti oil company Limosine Leninist John Kerry lost the election...

Drive the 300 with Gusto, there's PLENTY of Oil.

Why do you think OPEC is in business? To maintain a higher price of crude oil on the world market than would normally be if the oil producers of the world just went at it in an open arena...

That was fun...!
