I see a lot of discussion regarding width, diameter, offset, etc. However, I have heard that the AWD has some unique limitations. Can someone PLEASE confirm what width, offset, and bolt pattern, along with the best size tire for performance the '06 AWD can accomodate? I can't find anything definitive on the forum so far. I'm thinking 245/45's, but would like to go a bit wider if possible.
Don't want to go 22's, and also don't want a lower profile in the interest of getting the best combination of ride comfort and performance. I'm just a bit confused as to how going from a stock 18/7.5 to a 20 / ? will work.
Don't know squat about this stuff, so any and all expertise will be apprecaited..thanks folks.

I'm waiting on my '06 AWD, and have done a little research on this topic. The AWD model requires more wheel offset (35 to 42mm) whereas the RWD models run about 15 to 18mm. This offset (on the AWD) pushes the wheel farther away from the suspension parts. In doing so, it seems better to run a slightly narrower rim/tire. I'm looking at 22" rims, and there are a few out there in a 22x8" with 35 to 42mm of offset. Go to bigwheels.net, they have excellent info on offset, rim sizes, and a fitment guarentee. Even if you don't buy from them, the info is great. You should be able to run a 20" x 8 or 20" x 9" rim with 35mm of offset. Their site says that a 255/45/20 will fit with no rubbing. It says that the 255/50/20 does not fit.

Hope this helps.

Great Info! Great Site!

Ken...
thanks for the info. What about the tire pressure sensor issue?

Wheel/Tire ideas

The Davin wheels are catcing my eye, but man, are they expensive! I want to go 20's, and would love to get to a 265/45 all the way around. Am I looking at potential rub problems? I don't want to give up the on-board pressure monitoring. I'll settle for a 245 tire, but a bit more rubber would be preferred.

Wheel Choice

TSW 20/8.5, 45 offset. They are recommending a Goodyear RSA, but I want to go full out summer max performance...245/45. The RSA seems to be getting lousy reviews, and I have the 18" stocls wioth the Conti All-weather for the winter months..Make sense?
REcommendation for the best perfromace tire?

I'm not sure what type of pressure monitering used on the 300c awd. If it is the valve stem type, you should be able to put them in the new rims. I'll have to do some research.

Wheel / Tire Choice

Wheel..20" TSW Kyalami...

Shop pushing me to a Goodyear RSA, but the reviews suck. My inclination is to go with a Summer Max performance, but not sure which brand. Since I have the stock 18" all-weather Conti's for the winter onths, I don't reeally need another all-weather setup.
20" 245 /45. Would like to go 255, or even 265, but rub factor is a nagging concern.
Suggestions?

Larry,
This Spring I'll be going with Zinik 18" wheels packaged wit B.F.Goodrich gForce T/AKDWIINT - 255/55VR18/RF.Past post have determined that this tire in this size has no problem fitting and no rubbing. This is a high profile-ultra-performance tire. You can check out [email protected] tire rack.

Bolt Pattern...

Is the bolt pattern the same for the AWD as the RWD...5x115? It seems there's an awful lot of hypothesizing but can't seem to get to any hard core, conclusive information. Some say they can run a 5x114.3, others say DON'T DO IT! The wheel shop I'm dealing with is saying that TSW wheel is okay, but it's got either a 5x114.3, or a 5x120...no 5x115 in a 20x8.5. Am I being overly paranoid about this, or am I asking for a problem down the road (no pun intended )

Another tire to use to gain width is a 275/40/20...We have done a number of these with no problems, assuming wheel offset is correct for the AWD...
