I apologize if this subject is elsewhere. I searched and didn't find it in this forum. Okay, might seem like sacrilege to discuss fuel economy, but with premium fuel racing up to and possibly over $4/gal, I was wondering if anyone knows what it would take to adapt the MDS, that is now available on the 2011/12 SRT8's to the earlier 2005-2010 version? Is it hardware, programming the ECU, a combo of the two?
I can't be the only one thinking about this.

If it were do-able, you wouldn't save enough in gas consumption to make it worthwhile. And I doubt that it can be done for any reasonable sum of money and time. I haven't seen any real world numbers on the new SRT engines with MDS but if you compare the present 5.7L with the non MDS 6.1L, there isn't enough difference in gas mileage to justify the extreme measures that you are talking about.

Ditto. You'd be spending $5000 to save $50.

MDS is a system wide modification part mechanical part tuning. The entire exhaust systems on MDS cars, for example, are tuned (designed) differently.
