Spotted a brand new CLS this morning on the way to work with a pretty young guy driving. I lurked at his quarter panels for a mile or so with the zoomers echoing off him so he knew I was there. It took me about 3 or 4 lights to finally get next to him at a red with no one around when he looked over and grinned.

He pulled away at about 45mph by half a car length before I let off at around 70mph. (speed traps everywhere on the coast)

For 300hp that engine really performs. I am impressed to say the least. Nice job Mercedes.

The AMG CLS55 must be a monster.

Good info. Would have hoped it went the other way. I raced one of those versions but it was a few years older and I beat it last summer. Wonder if the HP has gone up.

I took on a CLS and had a different result, I pretty much had him by a car length. The CLS has 300 hp and 339 ft lbs torque granted it has a 7 speed auto but weighs nearly as much as the 300C at 3992 lbs so it would be a close battle either way. 0-60 time for the CLS is 5.5 so it is a toss up each time
