Hello everyone proud owner of a 2012 Chrysler limited loaded quick question if anyone can help me that will be great. I notice last time I drove my car every time I press the brake and release the brake pedal it made a weird noise. It sounds like is loose because when I press it is ok but when I depress it it makes a thump sound. Has anyone else had issues with this? the brakes work great.

Mine does that, did it from day one off the lot. It is like there is no rubber stop, or not big enough, and the peddle makes a thump noise when it returns to it's resting position. It bugged me at first, then I read an old thread on this site about it, and it seemed fairly common and normal. I don't even notice it anymore.

Now, it is difficult to diagnose a "thump" over the internet, and it could be something else, especially if it is something that has recently started.

Yup; my 2012 started doing this too at about the 6mo mark. One of our fellow owners got mad at his doing this and took it apart until he figured out what was making the noise. There is no rubber stop at all inside the car associated with the brake pedal. It's in the vacuum assist canister! At least that's what he claimed. I think his name was Doug.

My 2017 300s does the same thing. Evidently there have not been enough complaints or Chrysler just does not give a damn.
I took mine in for recall updates and told them about the clunking noise. They informed me its "normal with these models ". My Response was just because something is normal doesn't make it right. So here I am still super annoyed with the load clunking coming from my brake booster everytime I let off the brake.

I've read quite a lot on this and it is definitely a standard noise on the Gen 2's (have the same on my 2013), seems to be a poorly designed return stop on the pedal. The only way to avoid it is to release the pedal more slowly
