I have had to replace the passenger visor clip twice. The bottom of the clip snapped off while moving the visor from the center to the passenger window.

Has anyone else had this happen? To have it happen twice on the same car within 60 days makes me think there is a design problem with the visor clip, or my visor is not aligned properly and is putting torque on the clip.

Any thoughts?

Living in Las Vegas, I also have tinted windows. Both times we were driving out of town through the desert, and moved the visor due to strong sun. I am perplexed, because I have never broken a visor clip in another car.

300cinLV,

You have to stop driving so darn fast. It's from your passenger hanging on for dear life;)
Funny you should say that, because my 18 year old son is constantly telling me that I drive too fast and that I scare him. However, when he drives my car, he wants to romp on it too.

Yep, it just happened to me, passenger side also. As a matter-of-fact, I was traveling near you in Laughlin, NV... that desert sun is killer! Where did you get the replacement part and do you have the part number? Thanks in advance 300CinLV

I had the same problem as well driver side. I flip down my visors to hold the sun shield to keep the dash from warping in the So Cal Sun. My dealer had the part in stock so no need to order. The design is really not designed with strength in mind. Very flimsy at the maximum stress point

I noticed that when the visor is way down at an angle towards the windshield, there's not enough room between the clip and the bar on the visor. I could see why it would would break if you pulled on it with the visor in that position. If it's folded up, or down at no more than a 90 degree angle it pops out easily. Hope this helps :)

But the point is it should work at any angle and should not require a detailed thought process nor a warning to passengers. BTW, mine was not down, I was attempting to swing it to the side window. I believe it's a defect in the plastic, it's simply too brittle.

I know what you mean!

The visor clip broke off on my driver side about a month ago. Took it to the dealer and they fixed it in an hour. The clips are weak and that's a fact so just be careful.

The clip got me too!

About a week ago I was trying to place my visor back in the clip, as I usually do....and bam! The little piece underneath went flying toward the windshield. I have never, ever, ever heard of this happening in a car. I guess I better call the dealership.....what's the price, anyone know?

I ordered mine through our supporting vendor, Mopar Supercenter. Don't quote me, but I believe it was around $8 (?).
The Mopar Part # on the pkg is 1-1AH27BD1AA, but double-check to be certain that does not also include a color code.

The good news is I have never had another issue with them. :)

Happened to me twice in my 98 dodge stratus family car. Luckily they are cheap to replace, but Chrysler really should do better.

Well, so far so good. I haven't had a problem with mine, but I will be aware. Thanks for the 'heads up'. My wife and I tend to use the visors quite a bit. We used the heck out of them on the trip to Indio, Las Vegas, and back.
I wonder if there was any change in them for the '06's, or later '05's or something.
