Ok here is the story, I am looking to upgrade and AMPLIFY THE front door speakers in my 06 SRT8 with Kicker system. I have upgraded the dash speakers by adding Infinity Kappa 4" by enlarging the hole in the dash. They sound amazing, and I do not want to AMP them, and I do not want to re wire the ENTIRE car.

I have upgraded the 10" Kicker to a 12" Apline and I love the bass, its much improved and I am not looking to improve that.

I WANT MORE MIDBASS, and now...

Apparently I have heard, and I am hoping we can get someone to confirm the frequency range to the front door speakers is SUB Frequency, which explains why they are barely heard, and they produce no mid bass, and very little voulume to the system.

I understand if I simply upgrade the speaker, there will be no change, because the frequency is so LOW. And I cant run the wiring to an amp speaker level, because again the frequency will not be raised, and it will not change the system sound...

SO

What are my options? Again I do not want to AMP The rears, or the front dash speakers.

I want to make the door speakers louder and to play a more midbass frequenzy range with a 8" mid driver or something similar.

Thank you in advance

Paul

OK, I don't think there are a lot of options here, but here goes....

The frequency range the amp sends the door speakers is basically
120 hz and down.

You could tap the feeds and add your own amp and midbass speakers and
see if that gives you what you want.

OR

For more money, you could tap both the door and dash, feed
that to a summing device for a cleansweep, lc6 or lc8, 3sixty,
so you have a clean full range signal. Send that signal to an
amp with low-pass around 400hz or so. Use that amp to run
your new midbass speakers.

120 and down is crazy, I knew it was something stupid like that...

Why cant they just be full range like normal cars? They already have a subwoofer, whats the point of sub sound from a 6x9.

Is there any way to do a clean sweep or the Rockford 360 with out re wiring the entire car? I mean ONLY doing the door speakers?

yes there is. you can do the wiring changes at the stock amp.

you can tap into the output from the fronts (both dash and door)
and input this into the summing device for the cleansweep.

this will give you the full range signal you need for your midbass
amp.

run this signal from the cleansweep to the amp and set the crossover to low pass around 400hz.

run speaker leads back to the harness feeding the doors.

NOTES:

1. only one set of leads will be cut and thats the output from the stock
amp to your door speakers.

2. you will connect the speaker leads from your NEW amp to the speaker
leads going to the door

3. Do NOT cut the leads going to the dash speakers, you only need
to tap those.

hope this helps.

Thank you for this!

Let me ask you...

Why am I tapping into the dash speakers? And if I do this, wont that mean I will have to amp them?

Or when you mean tap, is that simply getting me the frequesncy I need keeping the same frequency and keeping the same factory amping for the dash speakers?

i think you got it.....but let me clarify...

when I say tap, I mean connect to without cutting...you can use
t-taps or scotch locks, or you can just strip away a little of the insulation
and connect your wires you will connecting to the cleansweep summer.

You are not changing any function of the dash speakers, just stealing the
signal from them.

the only wire that will be cut is the door lead, and this is only because
you will connect the end from the stock amp out to the input of
the clean sweep summing device. The other end you will connect your speaker leads from the new midbass amp.

You need both the door and dash leads to combine get a full range signal so
the cleansweep can work it's magic. Plus you need that since there basically only bass from the door output.

hope it helps.

Paul,

If you decide to use an Audio Control LC6i to sum the dash and door speakers, I've got a brand new one that I'll sell you, cheap. I bought it several months ago but decided to go a different route with the stereo. It's never been used. PM me if you're interested.

SRT Kicker Upgrade

I recently completed the Kicker amp upgrade and was suprised to find out I had door speakers, lol. The amp isn't exactly a "night and day" improvement but after listening to a few songs you do notice an improvement. The biggest is improved mid-bass via the front door speakers. I purchased online for $167 plus shipping and installed myself. Took less than 45 minutes.

You dont by chance know if it raised the speaker freq on the doors?

No sorry, the amp did not come with a spec sheet. The only paperwork received were the installation instructions. I would send kicker an e-mail to get the details.

Does anyone know if upgrading the kicker new amp for the srt will make the door speakers play louder stronger?

Or if the frequency range is different?

Just a guess but from reading what other people have noticed when they changed the amp the frequncy range is different. Most people say the first thing they notice is clearer louder mids and highs but much less bass. If you buy the kicker ugrade pkg it also comes with 2 way speakers for the doors further indicating that there will be more then just 120 hrz and down being sent to them.

Hey guys..can anyone confirm this about adding an aftermarket amp which would control the cross-over frequency and make your door speakers play "full-range"?

there is no plug and play amp that will change this. There are some upgrade
amps which alter the cross over frequency but none are full range
to the doors.

You can add an aftermarket amp, but you'll have to a) bypass the
stock amp b) use an adapter that taps in before the stock amp
to ensure the full range frequency at the doors c) add an oem integration
piece that sums the various outputs into a full range input to the amp

options if keeping the stock radio:

1) PAC C2A-CHY/C2A-CHY2/C2A-CHY3 added before the stock amp

2) JL SSI, CL441dsp, or RF 3SIXTY.1/.2, or AudioContol LC6/8/DQ8 added after the stock amp

3) bypass the stock amp completely and use standard LOC converters to
add aftermarket amps and speakers.

what about if you don't have a "stock amp"..and your head unit is providing the "power"..my 06 300 touring just came with the 4 speaker package..does that mean an aftermarket amp can make these adjustments after all?

First, there is no filtering in the system if you don't have a stock amp.
With the 4 speaker system, it is all full range. If you are not hearing
full range, then something is definitely wrong.

What are your goals? Do you want to make the system louder?
or do you want better sound?

My goal is to upgrade the door speakers...they seem to play mostly BASS and from replacing my rear 6X9, these woofers seem to be made out of paper machete! So I bought some nice 6 1/2, 2 way full range speakers for the door and I wanted to make sure that the tweeters would get used (full range)? So before I start "tearing up" my doors I want to make sure that I have adequate speakers..
