I got a feeling pretty much everybody should be getting there's very soon. I think CARBUILDER or grunt said the last 2005 was built this week.300CUL8R said:Is it me or are all the new SRT8 owners in Canada? When do the lower 48 get a chance to play????
Check your facts there is NO gas tax in Alberta. I didn't forget anything.steve88 said:Mikey you are forgetting the gas tax
This dealer here in Calgary got this car in last Wed and put it in the showroom, and except for a guy who was looking for a silver one there really has been no interest in it. I can tell you that your dealer will not get his hands on this one as it may go to the dealer principal for his demo.jeffT said:My Winnipeg dealer seems to be bs-ing me. Ordered in early jan. Cancelled my '05 and now have a ship date for an '06 on April 3rd or 4th. Seems that his rep told him there were NO '05's. He just did a search and found the one you were looking at this weekend.
So he is calling to see if i can get that one that you were looking at. Do guys in Calgary not want this thing? As to gas tax - Manitoba does not seem to have one either.
I think the only issues that you would have is having the car registered in Alberta with an Alberta address, plus insurance etc. The Manitoba government would want their pound of flesh but that is the only concern that I could see. All dealers have to service the car no matter where it is bought, although I'm not talking about buying the car outside the country. The dealer here in Calgary is Eastside Dodge.jeffT said:That is really too bad. I really made a point to my dealer that i wanted an '05. I had a VIN and all for a '05. Then was told about a month ago "There have not nor will there be any 05's built!" Which was stated to me even today and unless i would have happened upon this site would have believed him and had to tell him to go do some research and where he found 7 or 8 in Canada - oops!
It is very frustrating to be lied to even if the dealer says his western rep lied to him. I think Chrysler needs to work on getting their pricing and delivery issues sorted out before they take deposits.
I wonder whether i should phone up the dealer in Calgary to purchase from him if he does want to sell... But I guess there would be service issues.
Mikeyjohn said:Just got back from my dealer, after getting a bodyshop estimate on my 2nd minor fender bender and stopped in at the showroom and sitting there was a black SRT8 with all the trimmings, so I had a chance to sit in it and see what it had for options. This car was fully loaded with all the bells and whistles that are available in Canada. This car was not sold so I went to my favourite new car manager and got the figures for you Canadians. The MSRP on this car is $56,100 plus 7% GST which is $3,927 for a total of $60,027 out the door. If I had wanted this car I could have got it for 52,900 plus GST, as I am a good customer.
Could he travel to Alberta, buy it from your dealer, go back to Manitoba and register it there? Of course he'd have to pay his province's PST I believe.Mikeyjohn said:This dealer here in Calgary got this car in last Wed and put it in the showroom, and except for a guy who was looking for a silver one there really has been no interest in it. Is that who I think it is? Could it be? I think it is? Is there a picture of my car with you in it?keith said:Rambit has the best car in town!!
Yes, we probably have the cheapest prices for new cars in the country. I was not aware of the guzzler tax in Ontario until recently, plus I heard from my dealer that they also added the luxury tax in BC.Rambit said:Mikeyjohn:
You don't pay PST, which would be $4,488, or the $1,200 GGT for a total of $5,688 less than if you were to buy the EXACT same car in Ontario.
That's a big difference from my $56,090 (MSRP) + 15% = $8,413.50 + $1,200 GGT = $65,703.50. My total out the door was a little over $71,400, but with that I got tinting, all the protection packages and the best extended warranty they have available and all the necessary licencing fees etc. Gees, even all these extras get taxed as well.![]()
Are you thinking of getting it? If so, would you get all the protection packages & extended warranty as well? I wonder what the new bottom line would be if you did.
Rambit - who's not necessarily happy with it, but accepts it as such, sung to the tune "Money"![]()
They must have looked at the car and put an offer on it after I saw it.jeffT said:Still trying to get my facts right on all the taxes, registrations and extras. Don't fell like getting nailed in the future for doing something wrong.
The car is still available although someone else has a conditional offer on it. So it may just not happen but I am still working at it anyway.
It is an '05... and it has the right options. Calgary is just a skip and a jump away.
I may be wrong, but it seems to me that you would only have to pay the PST & perhaps whatever GGT/Luxury Tax applies to your province when you register it in Manitoba. Why don't you check that out tomorrow? Now if you had Indian Status, that'd be a whole other story 'cause they don't pay PST anyway!jeffT said:Still trying to get my facts right on all the taxes, registrations and extras.
