I'm going to put a cat-back exhaust system (5.7 V8 Hemi '06) but I'm not sure which one to go with, Borla or Magnaflow? I want something with a "growl" but not too loud where it would be annoying...I also want the best "performance" out of it, HP gain, etc. . Anyone that has one of these or knows about them give me your opinion. thanks...

Can't go wrong with either system.

If you want quiet unti WOT go Borla 112, if you want a little noiser, go Magnaflow or Borla 125 (but the 5 inch tips look like carpola IMO)...

My advice is to find someone in your area with both systems and go for a ride. I had the Borla 4 muffler systemer (140112), and just took out the rear muffler's (like the 140125 system only with the 3.5 tips), and am finally happy with it...

The Borla 3.5 tips are the best looking out there I think.

Hmmmm, I am in the same boat wanting the best exhaust for the money, and I DO NOT want it to sound too loud, and not tinny either. How bout the Zoomers? I went to this site, and played the video. Sounds coooool.

Here is the link.

i just had my magnaflow exhaust installed, and drove it for the first time today. i seem to like it, i think it's sounds very subtle & it's not loud & overpowering. but i haven't had a chance to gun it yet so, i'm not quite sure what it'll sound like then. but overall, i like the system.

I haven't heard the Zoomer's in person, and would love to...but I'd probably go that route if I did it again and wanted a little more sound. There are a few on the board that purchased and then yanked it...too loud...and that means I'd probably love it.

Are we there yet?

Does anyone else agree with 5point7?

The Borla 112s have the slightest sound increase while maintaining HP gain...while the Borla 125 kit will make it a little louder with comparable HP gain?

I am not a gear head so if I can get it right the first time I will be stoked! The last thing I need is to be putting on and then pulling off trying to get the right sound. That would just make me crazy!

(BTW, this discussion board has been invaluable for gathering new info on my new 300C... thanks guys!)

I have the magnaflow on my C and I love it. I recently took it on a road trip from LA to San Francisco & back and it sounded great the whole time. I get lots of "damn that sounds sick!" comments in the parking garage at work and it opens up real nice when you stomp on it. I like the Borla too but it is a little more subtle and european sounding and I wanted american V8 tone ... and I got it ;)

As far as the 4cyl "drone" there is a change in pitch (but I would not call it loud or buzzy .. just a different tone) but I only notice it with the stereo off & windows up and if I'm looking for it.. On a day to day basis normal driving I never hear it switch.

PixelPusher and stinasauras,

Is there any resonance or interior 'booming' with the magnaflow system at a particular rpm? I have magnaflow on our Hemi Ram and had resonance around 2000rpm and had to have another small muffler put in the system to kill it.

We take special care in certain markets in designing noise level suppression. The truck market is a little hard. Age demographics vary immesly and applications of use for trucks do as well. The average HEMI owner wanted louder and wanted more presence ... we did incorporate a front resonator and a custom internal muffler in preliminary designs BUT these did not achieve the "desired" volume and tone. With only a few variations to offer we could not meet all teh criteria for all demographics.

The 300C and 300C SRT-8 have engineered into them the necessary devises to reduce the DOD transition noise (in the 5.7 HEMI) and interior "boom" (in both cars.)
