Has anyone tuned their 392 SRT. What kind of results have you had? Any problems? I just bought a tuner and CAI from SpeedLogix . I'm a little apprehensive with the tuning. Any input would be greatly appreciated

I just put on a AFE Stage 2 CAI and ran the 93 tune with the Trinity. I'd have to say I'm a little underwhelmed. It's ok but.... meh is perhaps one description I could give. And I was really looking forward to it after the same CAI and a predator tune on my Gen 1 5.7 made a noticeable difference that just made you smile. Being able to turn up the throttle sensitivity tho is great.

It might be the thing that drives home the reality of just how good these SRT8's are stock from the factory.

I specifically didn't buy that CAI and Trinity combo from SpeedLogix because it did not state the power gains on their site ANYWHERE. Considering I already love the feel of my car, I would have to see some good gains to pay that much money. Not even on DiabloSport's website does it say what the power gains are, at least none that I could find last time I checked.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I think at least for now, we aren't going to see as much gain for aftermarket tunes until they have the car for much longer and do a lot more R&D. I think they hustled tunes to the market before they were really ready because we all wanted them so bad.

Just some expierienced guidance

Ok guys, I completely disagree, I have the leg maker true cai and I love it, it reaLly works, good looks and good gains, I also have a ported throttle body, it's ok, but once I got the tune I picked up a half second in my 0-60 time and quarter mile time, that's huge!!! Shift points make the difference and rev limiters, plus throttle boost, I'm from Detroit and my Srt is running 4.1 0-60 and a 12.2 quarter at 115mph without any major mods (no blower, no turbos, and no head and cam package, and no exhaust headers, just put on a catback system hopefully my times will even improve. The trinity is expensive but worth the gain, I believe I picked up a minimum of 25 hp if not more, but with pros there's cons, the only way to get good gains is to do a custom tune, if u use diablos tunes without altering them you won't get good gains, these guys haven't tested on these cars enough to know how to set up a good tune, but with a little no how and willingness to utilize their diablo sport forums, you'll get it right.

Wow nice gains. I'm not sure if I want to raise the rev limiter. I'll probably stick with the canned tunes. I don't want to ruin the engine. I'd be happy just being in the mid 12's. Thats fast enough to terrorize most cars on the street.

Even back to the first gen, a lot of folks said "meh" about the 93 octane tune. Going back to the 91 netted them better gains. It was true even for the SRT cars.

For me, adding the Predator was a real improvement. Having a CMR tune done on top was a real eye opener!

I have GOT to read more about a CMR tune! You speak very highly of it often!

You won't find much about it on DS's website. Local shops, who sell DS products and have a dyno, can opt to purchase the software and training. Once trained, and with some hands on time with different vehicles, a good tuner can make it well worth your while, IMHO. It's not cheap...I paid somewhere around $400 for my tune but at the end of the day, it made a huge difference. My last dyno run after the tune showed 411 RWHP. My mods are intake, exhaust, 180 deg tstat and the Predator.

Let's just say that traction is a problem for me. I know I drive hard. I have relatively sticky tires and I wore out my REAR brakes first (due to the traction control system engaging those brakes to slow down a spinning wheel) with traction control on, so you know I have an "issue". Yup, I mention the CMR tune often and with good reason. :D

YMMV based on ambient conditions at time of tune, the type of dyno used, vehicle condition and the experience of your tuner. It's not a good investment for everyone, or so I hear. All I know is what my results tell me. I feel I got my money's worth.

I'm all for a cmr tune, but it doesn't seem to be available yet for the 2nd gen srt8, but as soon as it is, I'm all for it, also trinity is the only option for the 2nd gen cars 2011+ so for me there's no other option yet. And yes, u can move timing but I'm not that expierienced to know what's best, I just move the air/fuel ratio to eliminate knock, and increase throttle boost, but the key is in your shift points, little more redline between shifts make a whole lot of difference.

I personally don't think $400 is that expensive to get approximately 30hp.
So what your saying is with the 91 or 93 tune with an intake, exhaust and a CMR tune can POSSIBLY get our car to.... Well... My car to around 400hp? If that's true I don't think $400 is bad at all.
Before this car I was in the market for a GTO and was VERY close to signing a deal but it fell through and I am glad now that I have driven this car.
The 2005-2006 GTO'S came factory with 400hp but I was going to sacrifice so much room!
I am much more pleased with the room and looks of our cars anyway.

So yeah, my point was that the canned tune from DS currently only available on the Trinity is not yet worth the money to me. If the tune was available on the Predator, then yeah, easy decision.

Along with the shift point RPMs, did the tune also make shifts more firm? The stock computer drops RPM right before shifts at WOT, presumably to increase the life of the transmission, but I find it highly annoying...
