I don't know if this is just something that happens to me or does everyone get this. Whenever I decide to ride/cruise around in my car aka waste gas i tend to notice that people try to out show me in trashed/ ugly cars. Prime example yesterday I'm at the car wash give my baby a bath, a 96 lexus on 18's comes by turns his speakers up he didnt have it dynomatted so it sound like straight up a**. As im leaving the car wash I decide to go by the mall to get something to eat. This guy in a 93 cougars starts swervin behind me with a unglow kit behind which was poorly installed. But to end on trip home on the highway a 89 escort with this loud a** exhaust going no where gets behind and turns on some cheap strobe kit to i guess show a mod to me or something.

Just wondering if it's only me

haha hilarious, they see ur ride and r jealous so they try to look cool. i've noticed it coming home from work sometimes. this guy in a kia rio is inching forward beside me at a light while it red like hes tryin to jump the gun or something. light turns green and hes tryin his hardest to get ahead of me and im just coasting nicely along. he keeps trying so hard and hes almost getting by me and i just hammer the gas n leave him in the dust.

haha it was pretty funny, i was laughing at him as i went by

lol.......I haven't noticed that much. I get people looking and jaws dropping but never anyone trying to "high side" and show off.

By the way, I don't have my trunk dynomatted and I don't care :)

I have had nothing but good responses to my car.
On the weekends when the guys are selling the paper on the street corners, they always give me a thumbs up while I'm driving by.
And people who "know" about the SRT also give a thumbs up.:fing02:

I just bought my car today and I already had some younger kid in a late 90s 2-door Cavalier rev his p.o.s. at me. I just shook my head in confusion.

For me it's always people in "fast" SUVs. The most pathetic red light race I've ever had was a....

No, you won't believe it..

Toyota.

...

Prius.

I have a rule about not racing, but I don't mind testing my acceleration up to the speed limit every now and then. Then there's the times that you think a lawnmower has stopped next to you, it rumbles off, but when you look over, you're passing it doing 1800rpms.

The closest thing to a real red light race I've had, and the kind that I know would've probably ended with flashing blue/red/green/yellow lights was a real muscle car, you know, jacked up rear end and the fattest tires on that rear end. Hahah dude was looking at me and trying to get me to race him.

I know what you're talking about OoTLink!

I live in Priusville (DC) and people will jockey their Prius at lights... funny.
A guy I work with always talks about how his Prius is no joke from a stop, and I think to myself... that's because no one bothers to drop the throttle on you, so you think it's fast.

I don't tend to worry about people starving for attention with their autos though. I think that people who try to drive their s*it-box like an F1 superstar, or show off their Fast-N-Furious© Pimp-My-Turd™ $19.99 aftermarket starter kit will always act the same, no matter what kind of car YOU are in. That's just the way they are.
