Dynoed the SRT8 today. I have 3200 miles on the car. I run the Mopar CAI, Magnaflow exhaust and a Stage II Jet chip. It was 88* out. I was using 91 octane California water, I mean gas. At the start of the first run, the engine temperature was 204*. I forgot to turn off the ESP. First run was 387.6 rwhp/382.1 rwtq.

I let the car sit for about 15 minutes before the second run. When I turned the car back on, I had an ESP/BAS warning light on. I could not get it to turn off. I tried pushing the ESP button but to no avail. I even tried disconnecting the battery. That did not do it. The dyno operator told me the light would go out as soon as the car rolled off the dyno. It did, he was right. Nevertheless, I took a second run with the light on. It pulled a 388.5 rwhp/384.6 rwtq. I wanted 390 hp but I cannot complain, those are good numbers.

I will post the dyno sheet later tonight.

Nice numbers!!! You might get your 390 in about 3000 miles. Some of the 2005 guys have claimed that the engine feels much stronger around 6K miles

That gives us all something to look foward to.............

Pretty good I must say. The stock SRT8s I have dynoed are ranging from 362-372 rwhp.

Cat-back + CAI + Tune = 25+ rwhp is not so bad...

Did you ever get a baseline?

The ESP light is active becasue the car sees front wheel speed of 0 mph and upto 140mph on the rear. It should show the brake, abs and esp fault lights because these systems are disabled due to the dyno condition. Should restore as soon as all wheel speed sensors see the same value.

I did not get a baseline. I wish I had.

I am hoping the Magnaflow cat system you're working on will provide the few more HP I'm looking for to hit 390. Btlfed1500, do you have an estimate as to when the high flow cat set-up will be available?

I believe there are tips for this somewhere in these forums but this seemed like a good place, so-----

I was wanting to get my SRT8 Magnum dyno'd to get a baseline before I modify it, but I want to make sure I know what to do to get the best numbers possible before I go in. I've read to turn off the AC and all unnessary electronics and have it done when the engine is cold and slightly warm it up running on the dyno before the first pull. Also, once I get it dyno'd at a place - stick with them to dyno it later after I've done more modifications for consistant numbers.
But should I leave it in automatic? run it with the auto stick? turn off the ESP? let it cool down between pulls? open all the doors and jump on the roof? I'm not sure if I take it someplace that doesn't know all about these cars they will know what to do.
Any recommendations on what type of dyno system is better than the other or places in the SoCal area that will know how to pull the best numbers out of this monster?

John Hennessey made some suggestions in a recent post. These are the guidelines I tried to follow:

1. Put the car into fourth gear with the auto stick. It will hold the gear to the redline on the SRT.
2. Start the run at 2000 rpm to get a broad curve.
3. ESP off.

I forgot to turn off the ESP. My car was a little warmer than I would have liked for the pulls. In between the first and second pull, the temp got up to 221*.
