When those flex joints fail, welding them up is problematic. Just not enough material to weld to so it can survive.

I've seen some of those joints fixed with either a band clamp or a heavy duty V-band clamp if you have enough flange material to clamp to. I don't know how long those repairs last.

If it were my car, I'd end up replacing the pipes.

thanks, for your input. so i don't get taken by the local shop how much do i reasonably need to replace. i don't want them to tell me the whole system needs to be replaced. i imagine just from cats to xpipe?

Without seeing the rest of the system I couldn't tell ya exactly what else needs to be replaced.

First, I'd ask them if they can band or weld the flex portion back to the pipe. I see something that looks like a ring/band of aluminum at both ends of the break.

Man, I think I'd be looking for a reason for that, like a broken engine mount!
