I have 300C HEMI 2006 model chrysler and the engine is cut out while driving.
I scan for the fault code and code U0100 and P0700 comes out.
The dealer says its TCM and want to replace.
what could be a problem?
any idea before I replace the TCM

Those codes mean the PCM has lost communication with the Transmission Control Module.

Before the TCM is replaced the only diagnostic to perform is to physical inspection of the transmission wiring harness connection for dirt, water, corrosion or damage.

Good advice! ^^^^

When the PCM loses communication with the transmission, the transmission disengages and the engine begins to shut down to avoid damage.

For some reason Chrysler dealers always try to sell PCM and TCM without checking connection or wires.

The reason I say this because I had a Chrysler dealer replace my PCM and it turned out I just needed a throttle body. I had to pay for both, very sad.

I had the same problem with my 2006 Chrysler 300 C I took my snap on scanner and I change the field on the alternator or what is better well known as the generator field increased at 25percent and now my wifes has never ran better if you like to contact me for more information my email address is [email protected]

This is an old post, but only one I could find that has the same problems I am. I'm new to the site and still trying to figure it out. I just bought an 06 srt8 with about 103K. Everything was fine until I upgraded the exhaust. Now when I floor it, it will jump out of gear until the rpms go down. It has stalled twice at a red light and is throwing the u0100 code. Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems and have found out how to fix it.

U0100 on my chrysler 309 forum and engine will stall at light. Dealership said to change computer after they already reset it. I know they know abt this issue and making money off of it. :(

Plz I need help I've spend over $900 dollars trying to know what's wrong with my car I have a Chrysler 300 touring and out of no where my check engine light came on with code P0700 and U0100 its turns on then like a min later turns off then I turn it on and it turns on perfect but some times when I drive it turns off but the check engine light won't stay on its just turns off HELP ME!

Ok well I took it to go get check and they change my throttle body n it work good for like 4 hours n now still dose the same thing agin what now

Old post yes but no one said if they changed the TCM PCM or was just dirty wires or low trans fluid? My scan U0100 and Po700 and stalling same as everyone above. I hate not having a dip stick to check trany fluid. Does anyone know the exact length from the top of the dip stick hole to the full level as a measurement so I can use a another dip stick to check it please. and if any of the guys above fixed theres can you tell me what you replaced as i have threw everything at this and its been a month of this crap!!

Just an update. Found on another forum that the PCM is the problem not the TCM in these cases of the exact same problem. the loss of communication is from the PCM not the TCM. The TCM wont make it stall the pcm will. Ordered a new one should be hear today or tomorrow. ill let ya know how that goes. if all else fails ill be getting a mopar TCM also I guess but 100,s of other 300c drivers with the same codes and stalling issues replaced the pcm and fix this just an FYI in case the next 1000 people dont have to go threw the same BS. i guess im lucky because after 10 years of ownership this is the first major issue Ive had. hope its the last!! Stalled 20+ times coming home from work today!!

ive been having the same problem for the last 3 years where the car stalls at random times and during wot it jerks and looses power like you hit a brick wall. i have had the pcm, tcm, ecu, alternator, battery fcm (front control module), spark plugs, and couls replaced and still the problem persists. please help!!!! i have called chrysler llc and they want me to schedule an appointment with the stealership. everyone needs to call this # 1800-334-9200 and complain of the problem we are all having. it doesnt make sense that dodge does not back their product and take care of their owners. if anyone has had the problem fixed or has fixed it themselves pleas notify of what you did and where exactly you got whatever part from. this is a very dangerous problem!!!

Info would be greatly appreciated only had mine for 8 months and it stalled going thru a light today... almost got rear ended by a jeep because of it :/ love the car to death but if i cant figure this out its getting traded i cant afford to keep throwing money at it anymore
