all i had was flat tyre indicator tail lights a bit too dark and a light amount of smoke on idle but that has clered and my code reader is coming up with the same codes it had 6 months ago which is
P2002 Particle Filter Bank 1: Malfunction, i have gutted the dpf
p0248 cat temp sensor too high
p0401 egr flow insufficient
Hi Alex,
I assume you've checked the cables for rubbing through near the Air Con Pipes ?
Other than the above:
P2002 could easily still come up because the differential pressure will be detected as abnormal by the sensor across the DPF. i.e. there will be approx. zero diff pressure because the DPF has no internals to drop the pressure.
If you don't want to pay for a software DPF delete, you could experiment by disconnecting the dpf sensor and connecting a resistor (experiment with value) across pins 1 & 3 of the plug. This may not work though under all operating conditions because the diff would be expected to increase under a higher load/gas flow. A definite way to solve it would be to put an orifice (restriction) in the dpf or the exhaust pipe to increase the diff pressure slightly. (But you may also have a faulty diff press sensor). System may also go into regen though which without a dpf may even bring up the P0248 below. (Just a guess)
P0248 would need the sensor checking or real time data reading to see if you get a sensible temperature reading.
P0401 could poss. be related to dpf being gutted, but I don't think so. Either EGR sticking and not opening enough or the MAF meter needs cleaning or changing. When the EGR is given a signal to open, the ECM checks to see if the MAF has changed by the correct volume. If MAF hasn't changed enough, the system knows the EGR hasn't opened enough to change the air flow.
There is no feedback from the EGR itself to detect if it has moved, its all done by measuring the MAF.
