WoooHooo!!!!

XCITsNU and I spent the evening at Indianapolis Raceway Park for street legal drag night. We raced several times side by side. He's a seasoned veteran. This was my first time ever.

He usually beat me by about .05 seconds. He also had better reaction times. However, my lone moral victory was a .017 (sorry - typo: best Reaction time was .071) reaction time by the end of the evening.

We got lots of comments and stares. Mine is a 2005 silver. His is a 2006 silver. It's the first time I've seen one other than mine, and I always had to check twice to get the right car. Everyone should try this at least once in their life!!!!

JMatt - I'm glad you had a good time at the strip. How were your times??

BTW - the .017 reaction time is right on the money. Good job, rookie!
Definately! My best time was .019 (Edit: Opps mine was .079, not .019) and I've been at this for more than half my life. JMatt pick it up right away and had some really great runs. It was really cool and we had tons of people coming up to talk about the cars.

Reaction times:
RUN R.T. Time: Central
1st .403 5:41pm
2nd .470 5:58pm
3rd .413 6:08pm
4th .177 7:23pm
5th .222 7:54pm
6th .281 8:09pm
7th .134 8:23pm
8th .079 8:32pm
9th .081 8:41pm

My best 60ft: 2.158
best 330: 5.961
best 1/8: 8.986
best 1/4: 13.805 (2nd run)
best speed: 104.56 (4th run)

I ran in different modes

Just under a 1/8 of a tank of gas: last three runs had a half a tank (93 Octane)
First 3 runs had Fuse 17 pulled
Manually shifting hurt my times. Fuse 17 back in and ESP off actually hurt my launches and thus my times. Drive with ESP on yeilded my best times. I didn't Stage at all due to Need4Speeds feedbck on his runs.

Sadly, times were a bit dissappointing. We both managed 13.8s. XCITsNU did it consistently. I was usually in the low 13.9s, but a couple in the 13.8s. The air was very humid, and I don't know if that made a difference. Fog was rolling in by the end of the session. Temps were around 70 degrees.

How's this for learning though:

Reaction times:
RUN R.T.
1st .759
2nd .535
3rd .521
4th .456
5th .357
6th .237
7th .173
8th .071

My best 60ft: 2.152
best 330: 6.001
best 1/8: 9.054
best 1/4: 13.883 (3rd run)
best speed: 102.68 (3rd run)

I'm surprised trap speeds were that low. I would think w/425, supposed underrated HP, would have traps around 108-110mph.

Actually, based on the car's weight, the horsepower calculators out there calculate 373 rwhp. With 17.5% driveline loss, that equals 451 RWHP. That does seem a little low since I have the Magnaflow cat-back on. I would have expected about 2mph higher. As I said though, everyone was running slow. A Ford SVT Lightning was there with 4 extra pounds of boost, and still ran over 14.0. Subaru WRX's were running 14.6 (2 differenct cars). I agree though. My times and speeds were both a bit dissappointing. The experience however, was AWESOME!

No...Everyone should try it at least 100 times in their life. :D

I'm glad you had fun. It's definitely a rush. I'll be going this Sunday. Hopefully my times will be at least near the 13.2 range....It looks like the weather seriously affected your performance tremendously the humidity must have been ridiculous.

I posted my times in the first page by editing a previous post.

Have you run your car before vvv90? Just wondering if you are planning on doing anything special? I've run in the 13.7's but not down that low. Are you adding anything to the mix?

I haven't run this car yet and I won't be surprised if my times aren't the 13.2's a lot have people did stock....I dunno, I"m always disappointed with my times no matter what and so are most at the track I normally go to. I don't know why they prep very well.

We'll see....so far I'm bone stock. I only plan on lowering my tire pressure, doing a little non-water burn out, and trying to keep the engine cool.

In fact, I'm curious as to how it will perform in the 180-190 degree range vs. the 200-210 range.

By the end of the night my engine temp was around 240. My last 1/4 mile run was a 13.852, and the engine was completely heat soaked.

Interesting.....I've always thought these engines run well when they're pretty hot.....Short of adjusting the AFR there's really not a way of increasing performance running in the low temp range.

IMHO.

Most SRT8's are in the 350-370 rwhp range stock. The race weight on these cars with driver and fuel should tip the scales @ around 4400 lbs. (I believe the curb weight is around 4200 + driver + 1/4 tank fuel)

If you are looking at a stock + 15 hp car i would assume 103-104 traps in average weather to be very accurate. Run somewhere like Englishtown in negative DA and you will see 2 more MPH.

Comparison: My 2001 Siverado makes 425 rwhp / 510 ft-lbs and weighs in at a stout 4430 lbs on the track and cuts throough the air like a brick. I net 12.30's @ 109 on a race tire and traction aids. Flywheel horsepower is around the 540 HP mark. Street tires would knock me back a full second. Those times seem to be on par.
