It's a simple question to answer:

Will you get $3,000 worth of enjoyment out of your car without waiting months or a huge effort to get one at MSRP?

I have NO regrets paying $5k over. While I was enjoying driving my car for the past six months others were waiting for MSRP and posting how stupid you must be to pay over MSRP.....and some are still waiting....and will be.

Do what you think works for you: Opinions are like a*sholes, everyone's got one.

Usually people tend to regret it when the model improves in 2 years and they want to trade it in for the new one and they have neg. equity in the car because the value tanks because the new and improved model is coming out. I'd much rather wait, or buy one for msrp and pay $1k to have it shipped to my door. I would also rather donate the other $2-$4k to a charity before giving it to a dealership. JMHO though.

From all of the b.s. I went through, I was going to add earlier that I thought 5,000 over was going to get you a car in the Los Angeles area and that would be the best you can do, but congrats on $3000 over! Bottom line is, I think it depends on your priorities and to get this car, right now, over MSRP is worth it. Again, congrats!

HONORABLE dealership= sounds like an oxy moron to me. ounce you start learning the ins and ous of the car buissiness you start to figure out they are like casinos. in the end they always win!.-
Ain't that the truth!

The problem with dealerships that SCREW their customers by charging over MSRP, such as the one that prwfleet evidently works for, is that you can NEVER trust them for ANY other services or work because they will undoubtedly SCREW you on that as well...

if im a dealership ill sell them for sticker and when dc sees how many that i am moving guess who is gonna get the most amount of the allocation? me! its not like dc cares about the extra markup, they dont get a slice of that action, unless they do the financing and get some $ on the backend.

I think that "new SRT-8 for sale" posts put up BY SALESPEOPLE should be LIMITED to ONLY SUPPORTING VENDORS (such as Steve Desjardins of Windsor Chrysler in Ontario) AND that the requirements of such supporting vendors provide that said vehicles CANNOT be "advertised" or listed for over MSRP.

yeha i agree. on the other hand if you are selling something that you know that alot of people will pay over msrp for then why wouldnt you? i mean we do live in a capitalistic society, i just get really upset when i start to see bullshit like 15-20k over to me that makes a dealership look bad just to ask that and they should be imbarresed.

Quite frankly, IMO, I think Chrysler dealers know full well that most, I said most, SRT buyers will not likely be buying any other Chrysler :)AR15firin Sebring, Town & Country woo hoo!) so the prospect of getting a one time hit with a $5k over MSRP sale is worth it.

I may also add that I'd happily go back to the same dealership and salesperson if by some miracle Chrysler comes out with a car that's better than the SRT and I might even pay another premium for it.

It also seems that the dealerships I frequent seperate the Sales and Service Depts. and you're just as likely to get "screwed" at any dealer or shop you go to.

And by the way, anyone who buys this kind of car for the resale value is most likely buying it for the wrong reason. IMO of course. :wink1:

Pay The Money

Simple Capitalism = Supply & Demand
If DCX was cranking out 20,000 SRT-8's a year and every dealership had them, we the consumers would be hammering them to sell it BELOW MSRP. With limited availabilty, why shouldn't the dealer squeeze a few grand out of us? As for the car: Worth every bit of sticker plus MANY thousands! I paid 3k over ($60k out the door) for my Loaded '06 SRT-8 with option group 1 & 2, Rear DVD & Kicker Stereo. Now that I have mine: I would GLADLY pay (don't tell the dealer) a lot more! I need four doors. Looked at the 745Li. 85k sticker, my SRT-8 is far and away a sweeter ride for about 38k less! Pay the Money. Get an SRT-8 even if you have to sell a kidney to get it! (you have another one anyway). Just my opinion as an SRT-8 Owner, no longer a Waiter. 23 days and 4300 miles so far.... WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Never thought I would say it but Damn, I Love My Chrysler!

Alot of people who buy cars like this, and in this price range turn cars over very quickly> I usually buy a new car every 18 months or so, and you will look out for resale then, well unless you have FU money.

You've really just got to ask youeself a few simple questions

1) is this car worth 3k over to me??????

2)can i afford it????

3) Am i willing to travel to get my car (for msrp) or at the very least, have it shipped, and if i can't................

4) is this car worth 3k over to me

dealing with dealerships can be a drag, but if the car is worth it to you (for what ever your reasons are) then you should do what is right for you. I paid over and I would do it again, but that doesn't mean that there aren't SRT8's for msrp or at least close........you have to be willing to buy one for msrp and then do whatever it takes to get the car.........fly or ship......either way it's still gonna cost you over msrp.

and with all these rumors (or not quite) of a possible strike, it really comes down to, how bad you want it??????

I've personally lost over 3k in one (bad) night in Vegas and I won't lie to you.............it really sucked,..............I thought I had a GREAT time until I woke up and realized I just gambled away headers, a cat-back and some nice wheels...................at least you'll wake up and be able to look at your SRT8 sittin in the garage and you'll, at the very least, be able to point at what you spent your money on

If the brampton plant strikes, 3K may be a great deal. I hope that does not happen but it may. And if it does, those cars on the dealers floors @ plus MSRP certainly will not be going down. Could very well be going up.

I may have some "inside" info regarding the strike tommorow and will post same on a new thread here if it comes through. I know there are a lot of members with 300s and Mags on the cusp, as far as shipping in the next few days.

I sure hope they don't walk off!
