It's about 4 feet long (too long I think) Transmission Oil Level no. 9336. I am able to get it to the oil but its still got about a foot left to go thru the tube? I dont want to force it What the hec is going on. Any way I still have the Tranny shudder even after the new torque converter. Went on a 2000 mile trip and the oil looks perfect. this may be a drive line shudder. Could the friction plates be bad and it still not show up in the oil after 2000 miles? Need some of that expert advice.
Regarding the dipstick (um....'special tool') being too long, this is what the TSB says:
NOTE: For the LX (300/Magnum/Charger), the handle end of special tool 9336
transmission oil dipstick may protrude from the fill tube when installed.
41. If vehicle is an LX, remove the dipstick tube cap. Push the transmission oil dipstick (Special Tool 9336) into the transmission fill tube until the dipstick tip contacts the oil pan. Pull out the dipstick and read the transmission oil level. Repeat if necessary.
So.... this is basically a "universal" dipstick, not just for our cars. Nice to know that now after you already bought it, isn't it? I'm just gonna find a dipstick that fits, and mark the cold and hot fluid levels on it since the special one is not really an exact fit.
As far as any sign of bad clutches , etc. due to the water issue, it would be hard to tell that from the fluid alone... any material will sink to the bottom of the pan unless it's really bad. I think you are just being too nice.....whatever the reason for the shudder, the fact is you have a new car under warranty; I would insist on a complete overhaul at this point, you have already been understanding and let them "patch" it and it didn't fix it. Now it's time for them to step up to the plate. It's beyond me why the dealer thought just a torque converter would fix the problem. the same fluid circulates thru the tranny and the converter so even if the T/C was the original culprit, any contamination goes everywhere. They should have known better.
Anyway, good luck to you! Be firm !!
