Well, I am too tired to post the full review (it's late), but here is what our friend Frank dropped by in today so that we could check it out:

Which looks like this on the inside:

And stops with these:

First impressions? WOW!! Despite only having a few miles on it from delivery (Woodhouse, of course), Frank even tossed me the keys and INSISTED I drive it. So I did! Quiet ride until you open 'er up a little bit. Still on break-in, plus it wasn't my car. Yet it still managed to pin you back in your seat, especially when you realize you are driving two tons of fun.

And those seats! They offer great lateral support without the stiff "bare bones" approach of the Viper SRT-10. Look great too. Car handles surprisingly well for its size, not to mention those awesome Brembo brakes that bring it VERY quickly to a halt. The interior is well laid out, like all Chrysler 300's. The 180 MPH speedo and "SRT" tach are a nice touch too.

I wanted one before and I REALLY want one now - only in black. My thanks to Frank for his very generous visit - he even took my son for a ride (the same one that has been all excited about the SRT-8 since he first started reading about it). Awesome car for an awesome friend!

Hey Chris! Lan here.

Do you know if your friend's car is an '05 or '06? Mine is right around the corner and I can hardly wait! :) I too ordered mine through Pemberton at Woodhouse so this gets me understandably excited...starting to feel like a kid at xmas!

Great pics!

ekool - Yep, none other than Bill Pemberton. Bought a few cars from that guy myself. A+ all the way! (and on a side note - how do I get my dang password sent from srtforums.com - no e-mails showin' up and they aren't blocked. Thanks!)

Lan - Nice to see you here and great member number (your 1997 to my 1996). His car is an '05 and is fully loaded with all the bells and whistles. Rest assured that your car will be VERY well worth the wait! Don't suppose you want to drop by when you get it so I can get another ride? ;)

Thanks, Chris. Those are kind words, but YOU'RE the great guy.

Yeh, compared to the way I drive, you drove it like you stole it (sort of)! You see folks, this man has never babied his cars, and they ALWAYS out muscle every other comparable car on the dyno. And by a large margin. I have seen it 3 times now, so it isn't an accident. He breaks 'em in like he drives 'em.

Heck, I'll bet the 8 picked up 10HP yesterday from your driving alone!!

Additional pictures of my SRT-8 in Black

Hey folks I am one the few lucky ones myself. I got my SRT-8 a few weeks ago here in Dallas, and let me tell you that car drives like a Prosche combined with a Bentley and Topped with an 05 Vette.
It's a hell of a car. I drove an Audi S6 before and I thought I was in heaven - well, I am re-thinking this again and I feel like right now I am definitvely in car driver heaven....
See pictures under

The only thing I am missing on the SRT-8 is this mean sound of a willing V8 - any ideas how this brute could be tuned as far as sound???

Disgusted with the dealers in my area

I have been waiting for this car to come out for a while now first it was the 300C then I saw the SRT8. Everything I am hearing from just about every dealer in Northern California is 10 to 20 thousand over MSRP if you want to order one then some dealer won’t even let you order it because of there limited allocation. I am thinking about just getting a regular 300C and going about my business. What do you guys think I should do wait and see what going to happen or just get the 300C no SRT8. This Sucks

SRT v C

BigKev,
I thought the same thing. To go with the C and not wait or pay over MSRP. Then I thought about what would happen if I'm at a stoplight in a 'C' and an SRT8 pulls up.....

I'D FREAKIN' SNAP and regret not waiting or ponying up the extra dough. I've already decided that I'll go $5k over if I can find one. So far nobody's budging off the $10k over. Two dealers in San Diego are even looking for $20k over!

If anyone has an SRT8 in Cali and is willing to take $5k over please PM me.

I ordered mine out of state. When or if it gets to the dealer I plan to ship it to my house. Cost of shipping is about $1,200.
Plan 2 is, if the dealer pulls the plug on the deal, I will probably go with the C and put on the new supercharger that their coming out with, 50 states legal. It will have about 450horse, and cost will end up about the same as the SRT8. Cecil..........

Qtrick,

You do not have to pay the shipping costs. The dealer can have it courtesy shipped direct from the factory to a local dealer near you. Still under dealer's insurance that way and should be no issues. All you have to do is contact a sales rep at a local dealer and ask them to take delivery and do the prep - should be about $200-$250. Then your dealer just contacts your local sales guy and arranges it. I've had it done twice so they can do it for you.

Wow, digging up an old thread. I remember this one very well. I was just one month into my 330 day wait for my beast. Everyone was clamoring for information on the SRT8. Now this dude finally gets his ride after test driving one so long ago when they were highly rare. That’s great it worked out like this. Thanks for refreshing my memory on this SRT8 story. :D

BTW….I’m getting the feeling if Y2 doesn’t post pics soon you’re going to his home and banging on the door demanding pictures immediately. :D
