I have seen pictures of the headers on my car now. Dyno testing may take place tomorrow. They reaffirmed that I should have my car back by next Tuesday, so we should know everything by then.

I can tell you they are doing development extremely thoroughly and well. I saw prototypes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The end result should be very nice.

I am anxiously awaiting your data and the rumored data to come from Kooks. I have the itch to order the Kooks right now, but I figure it would be best to wait until numbers are up for both and then scratch :wink1:

I am also curious to see if your theory that the 1 3/4" will perform better than the 1 7/8" holds true.

Yes, I'm watching for that too! Vizard predicted 1 3/4"

1 3/4 Tubes Will Make More Low End Power And The 1 7/8 Will Make More Big End Power Especially On Modded Motors.

My Bet Says That An Srt8 With Magnaflow And Cold Air That Makes 390 Rw Hp Only Gains Another 15-18 Rw Hp With Headers And High Flow Cats And Mid Pipes. Thats A Nice Power Gain If That Is What Happens. But Dont Expect Anything Huge In My Opinion. But Ive Been Wrong Before. The More Power Gained The Better.

Zilla is going with the 1 3/4" and I am thinking 1 7/8". I'm not sure when the 1 7/8" testing is going to take place now, though, as Kooks has a new baby coming in for surgury....A brand new C6 Z06 and I know from comments in the Vette forums that they want to get their header numbers up fast to try and over take another vendor.

Arrrrggggg!!!!!!

Sorry guys. Dyno testing is delayed until about next wednesday through friday. Delay is completely unrelated to the exhaust system.

Long story short: Wheel got curb rash. Wheel sent to vendor for overnight repair. Vendor (who promised overnight repair) realized "we don't have data on this SRT-8 rim - we have to send it to Texas for CNC work, and it'll be back in a week." My car is now on a lift with 3 wheels, and no possible replacement to even drive it to the dyno.

That encapsulates it precisely. Thanks, John for the clarity.

so we should assume 1 3/4" for moderately modded motors (CAI, cat-back) and 1 7/8" for heavily modded ( forced induction, headwork, etc)?????
I wouldn't assume anything. Both header sizes are supposably going to be dyno tested and posted here in the coming weeks. My argument is that the 1 7/8" are going to give the same gains on the bottom end as 1 3/4" and then go on to make better top end power. This could be completely wrong, though, and even though I want to order the Kooks right now, I am waiting for both sets of dyno data. Our SRT-8 will not get many more mods after headers/high flows, so I am picking the one based on nearly stock conditions.

generalities and theories all go out the window when the car goes on the dyno and runs at the track. the chassis dyno should tell the story. kooks should be close by now.

Dyno testing is now scheduled for this Friday, 10/14/06. I'll post results when I get them. I don't know how quickly I'll get the e-mailed data, but I would think no later than next Monday (6 days from now). I'm excited to see the comparison with the other header that just hit the market.

I am certainly looking forward to the results. I may be ordering a different system, but I may wait too....
