headlight covers cloudy

Anyone have any advice on cleaning or protecting the headlight covers????I have 14k miles and they are starting to look cloudy and pitted, making my nice HID headlights look like the moon behind some clouds.. Can't tell if maybe it is some sort of film on the inside or the plastic is actually becoming opaque.

Mothers makes a plastic polish that can be used on headlights. Plexus should work too. I had mine covered with clear bra material when I had the front done. I am hoping that it will hold up well.
I sure hope these things don't frost over like so many DC and Ford products, they look ghastly . We can put a man on the freakin moon and can't produce plastic that stays clear. I have NEVER seen a European car with frosted headlights, hmmm

Early to mid eighties Mercedes Diesels :p
Are you sure it isn't on the inside? I recall another forum member getting his headlights replaced under warranty due to condensation buildup inside the plastic.
I, like the original poster, have just crossed 14K miles (and 14 months), and the headlight covers are beginning to haze up on the inside. Next time I get the oil changed, I'm going to ask if it can be cleaned and/or replaced.

I hope this isn't going to be like the LH cars. Anyone else starting to see this problem?
Mine are starting to cloud a bit also. I hope the assembly can be removed and the lense cleaned. I'm coming up on 7K miles.

Any updates from anyone that has had this issue. Mine are starting to look the same, I parked next to a new C on the lot when I had the car in last week, and could definitely tell the difference in clarity. Also, during the last rain we had here my housings built up a little condensation inside them, but it went away rather quickly. I had the dealer check them and, of course they couldn't duplicate the problem, and said that they look fine to them..... has anyone had any success getting them replaced, or finding a product that cleaned them well??
Meguiar's #17 clear plastic cleaner, and #10 clear plastic polish, used in that order, can be applied by hand and work well for minor hazing... about $15.

For fully clouded lenses, Wolfgang Plastik Lens Cleaning System is a 3-part kit: abrasive cleaner to remove hazing, embedded grime and uneven surfaces around scratches; glaze to make the surface smooth again; sealant to protect. Includes pads, backing plate and adapter to be used with your drill motor... about $50.

Neither of these are easy to find in stores, best bet is to search online someplace like autogeek.
Thanks for the info, I will look into these products..
