Being a long time Corvette forum member, I wouldn't let Hennessey touch my Kia, much less something I actually like and want to see again. Anyone planning on business with him, please do your research well before committing your car to him. Plenty of Corvette and Viper owners have seen the light......

And that is a shame. I've heard the same thing from several other folks. It's a shame because the kit looks like the've got everything covered. No offense to jketron or GS motorsports, but I'd be a little more interested in doing all of the mods in this kit first........... and then you can supercharge it!!!!!!!!!!!Can you say 600 rwhp???????It sux that Hennessey has a lousy rep. cause this kit would be pretty bad-ass.Headers, cam, pistons, exhaust, intake...........Somebody else please make this kit. Please????????

I encourage you to do a search. Hennessey has tried to shut people up with legal suits in the past and I want no part of it. The info is out there, it may be hard to find, but it is a must before committing your car to them.

They are building the first kit on my SRT8. Anyone here should visit their shop and see their work first hand before casting stones. John admits to having made some bad business choices through 2002. From that point forward they have been on the straight and narrow from what I have seen.

So before some of you start judging based upon internet reports from 2-3 years ago, you should realize that their company in the present is doing good work - including on my car.

These guys won the big Car and Driver tuner shootout last year and beat every other tuner in the business in the process. They just took another first place in another big shootout that has yet to be publicized. In my opinion they have the talent to do very good work. And I am trusting they will do the same on my vehicle. I will report the progress of the heads/cam/header package they are doing on my car.

No one is casting stones. What I have posted is for those who may be interested to do some research and make the decision based on that. You have done that as well, by your own admittance. You know of his difficulties in prior years, although not limited to 1 year as you mention, and you have visited his shop. You are impressed and you are doing business with him. Others should be aware of those issues, visit his shop and make their own decisions as well.

I look forward to hearing what the package turns out. I am certainly interested in doing this type of mods, but I am very insistant on waiting for somebody to have good tuning ability before committing.

Out of the following vehicles listed on their site with performance upgrades, I have only seen and read writeups in regards to their vipers.

Cars they have kits on:

Audi RS6
Bentley Continental GT
Chevrolet Corvette C6
Chrysler 300C SRT8 HEMI
Dodge Magnum SRT8 HEMI
Dodge Ram SRT10
Dodge Viper SRT10
Dodge Viper SRT Coupe (2006)
Ford GT (2005)
Ferrari F430
Lamborghini Gallardo
Mercedes-Benz AMG
Porsche Carrera GT
Porsche Cayenne Turbo
Porsche 911 Turbo & GT2

Out of curiousity can anyone provide me some sort of review or info on any of these kits with the exception of the Dodge Ram and Venoms?

Rambit's thread tie is right on...

As soon as I saw this post...
I thought of the Autoweek article as well...
I won't have to worry about doing business with him because I have no supercharger pangs...
yet...
but if i do, I am going the way Jketron did...
to each his own...
But to dog so many people regardless of how long ago it was...
well it justs speaks volumes about someone...
make up your own mind...
1st magnum srt8 - enjoy the new set-up...
no knock against you for using Hennessy...
for your sake I hope he is "reformed"...
and the system is phenominal and everything works out as you are indicating...
His reputation in the automotive industry would increase ten-fold if he took care of those outstanding "problems"...
But that is my opinion, your mileage may vary...

read the autoweek article...

from what I remember...
there were some Viper guys who went to get their cars "modded" and never saw them again in one piece...
as well as some Corvette guys...
guys ponied up the money up front and the jobs were never completed...
that is a seriously edited cliffnotes version...

Edit....Hell, that is a chop!!! :D Sorta like the 300C and Magnum look...Completely chopped...hahahaha!!!

Anyway, seriously, the word is out and everyone considering business with this business needs to carefully review the info. There may be new players in this reincarnation of the business, but the main figure is still there. Be careful.

$10k for another 75hp?

Am I missing something here? Do people really loosen their purse strings THAT easily?

why would someone pay 10000 for a kit that has yet to be proven and im sure when GSmotorsports finalize there kits they will be better and more affordable, GS i have faith in you I hope you are able to finalize kits for the 300c and the srt but advertise them differently, Keep your current advertisement but add a way to pick the horsepower you want and then yall put the kit together, show Rwhp and Bhp but Rwhp is what counts on the road but Bhp is what counts in the advertising just ask motortrend or car and driver or road and track they never list rw or bhp. just some advise sorry for the run on sentence i have periods as do most men. lol

I think we will get more than 75 hp and I'm not paying 10k. At the end of the project I fell that I will have a lot faster car with bullet-proof reliability. I had considered going with a blower but I am not sure how reliable they will be long term. Ive owned several heads/cam upgraded vehicles in the past and they were always faster with zero failures. To each his own.

I completely agree on normally aspirated mods. My last heads/cam/exhaust/intake/fully tuned car was incredible. 25K and over 2 years later, it was still incredible and still making the same numbers on the dyno and passing emissions.

I am very curious as to what tuning ability they have for your vehicle. Speed density systems will respond to mods, but a speed density system will not make the most out of them without moving the targets forward. Have any comments on that?

I have talked to two companies that are big hitters in the GM tuning world. They have noticed the increase in DCX enthusiats and this platform. I think we will see some help in the future, but I don't think that future is soon.
