I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on my problem and a solution.

Basically, I have two problems.

1. The A/C when on, makes a strange whining sound when driving at high speed.

2. When set at FLOOR, the system blows air as if it were in DEFROST?

I took my car to the dealer and they claim they have seen problem one on several cars and many owners have complained, but Chrysler has no fix nor will they let the dealer do anything about it.

Problem number two just showed itself as it has not been cold enough til this last week to use the heater and the FLOOR setting. I wonder if the two promlems may be related.

I haven't experience those problems, but will keep an eye out. Thanks for the info. I hope your problems are fixed soon.

Blend door stuck? I assume the blend door is controller by a stepper motor, since it does not clunk in place. Sounds like it's basically always in defrost. How about in recirculate? Could the whining be wind whistling through a slightly open vent?

Gang,

I had a sound that was comming from behind the glove box this past summer that sounded like a dry speedo cable. Dealer said that it was the condenser on the A/C and that's the way it is. Don't buy it!!

Floor Heater control problem

I was hoping to find a topic on this but so far my search has come up empty. I noticed about 6 months ago that when I went from whatever setting to the floor setting with the blower fan, that it seemed that the actuator which regulates which way the door goes whether def or floor, when it went to floor setting seemed to only go half way. This is a bit hard for me to explain, so bare with me. Before I would get full blown blasting air to the feet and would not have much dash noise, when I put it to def, you can hear that fan pushing air up the dash, then switch to the floor mode u would hear it go blow down to the floor. It was a night and day difference. Now it sounds like it gets stuck half way between when it is in the floor setting. I have taken it in and they took out the actuator and reset the noise pads inside, but still the same. Now the air flow to the feet is still pretty good but not like it used to be. So I asked them to change the actuator anyway, and they did but still the same get stuck between def and floor feeling.

Has anyone else had any sort of similar problem with this. I mean the heat and everything works well, just that it seems to get stuck. Dealer can not find any problems. I need to go and test another 300c that they have in the lot to see if I am just going a little crazy.

Thanks in advance.

Mine does the same when set to the floor only. It actually got stock one day (didn't go to the floor at all) but "fixed" itself. Sounds a LOT like it's going to the defrost, and some air is, but the floor still gets warm so I just figured it wasn't worth the headache. Please keep me posted though if you discover a working fix.
