Well, I was actually kicking around getting Lava Red on a C a year ago. I thought it would look cool and in pics it does.

But I gotta admit I saw one in person for the first time from about 20-30 feet away.

IT LOOKS BROWN!

And I'm not color blind at all....Sadly, It looked brown.

If that's the case I know why it got nixxed.

I didn't want to be the one to say this... but maybe you're just a racist. There. I said it. I feel better getting that off my chest.

Thanks for the link, I had just done a search myself. To be honest, I don't think even the pics look all that nice. There's something about earth tones and the 300C... they just don't match. I really can't envision any other colors on it other than the stock black, blue, silver, and white. All the other colors seem strange to see on such a car.

My dad picked up an 85 airbag Tempo in 88 at the Govt. auction. It was poo poo brown, shaped like a terd but it ran like stink for many years, my younger brother drove it to UVA for 4 years and it may still be running.

Reminds me of my buddies shit brown 86 Mercury Topaz that he drove all through college. What a POS. But it did it's job.

I thought that the Deep Lava Red would be a great color, till I saw one for real. I was not at all impressed, but for those who like it, more power to them.
When I first heard that the color had been discontinued, I thought, "fine, now how about the Satin Jade." Neither one of those colors ever inpressed me, at least not in a positive way.

Agreed, but I would also have to add that magnesium color...just too blah.

You havent seen a real DLR up close. Every one that sees my car loves the color. It looks totaly differant it differant light. At night it looks Black. Some times it even glows if the sun hits it just right.
So too all you guys that are going to argue with me.
I DONT CARE WHAT YOU THINK YOU SEE.
Or are you just tring to get under my skin.

Of course, it's more fun. :silly:

Seriously though, when I look at your avatar it's so obviously a burgundy/crimson/black cheri red....INCREDIBLY obvious.

That's why I thought it might just be me. I can't understand why it looked so brown.

Who the heck knows, maybe it was custom. I guess I'll see Sunday.

I feel the same way about the magnesium. I think it is the best color out there . I would love to have a black one but when I seen it in person I did not like the fact that it had a metallic flake to it.

I love the Magnesium, one of the one's that I drove was that color. I just didn't want to try to keep ANYTHING that dark colored clean here in the Great Northwet.
The Deep Lava Red looks great in bright sunlight, but we don't get very much of that around here either. Mine had to be a light color, so I can keep it looking nice, and not spend all my time doing it.

I didn't care for Lava Red when I saw it in person. That was the color I was hot-to-trot for... I thought it would be a metalic/pearl red, like the Magnum reds I've seen.

Cool Vanilla may be a tad staid, but it's easy to care for and very forgiving. This car looks good even when it's dirty! It looks better dirty than any other car I've owned...

It was probably the stock DLR. The first one I saw was parked in the shade, and I had the same reaction. What a dull, boring color! It looked dark brown, or possibly slightly maroon. A few weeks later I saw one parked in bright sun, and my wife took one look and said that was the best color to get. Haven't regretted it. It's black at night, brown or maroon or root beer or black cherry, depending upon the light, and a wonderful dark metallic red in really bright sun. Yes, I wouldn't mind a bit more red, but this is still a really attention-
getting color.

Heh - I have purple fountain grass and a dark purple-black leafed plum in my front yard - the lava red looks perfect parked in the driveway!

I guess those of who are not too impressed by some of the other colors probaly drive vanillas or black? There are many colors in between the color spectrum. Im sure we all had the option to choose black or white. Just about every C you see is either black or white. Some like to be diffrent.

Or maybe...just maybe... the non-DLR owners were too cheap and didn't want to pay for the "Premium" color upgrade and are now jealous of the the 300c's best color option
