hatax i post it again and if you know someone who speaks german they can check behind me
The tranny is fine damn. One of the guys i met from bmw (currently) but he worked for MB in the past. Told me the tranny so called set maximum is due to smoothness and the MB feel and he said MB set the max at 429.068lbs he said the tranny able to take maybe twice that but it will not have that patent MB feel. So i asked what is the patent MB feel he told me to ask someone that owned more than three MB and they can tell you, I told him look i just want to take this tranny to around 500lbs of torque and he told me you will not have a problem with that and if i not looking for that feel i could go past 600, it just will not be liquidy smooth i told him i just want to be solidly fast, he laughed. He told me if i knew anyone that speaks german to call brabus and they will confirm this but u have to speak to their cust service than to a technician and he said techs there speak little english but mostly german he said the good ones anyway. The guy asked me to keep his identity private but he told just call brabus if i didnt beleave him. Someone that has the spare money on this board please test the tranny This guy definitely knows what hes talking about and he showed me his credentials hes offical

I think this is what you was talking about

Thanks redman and your welcome hatax. so can everyone please stop assumeing that this wonderful tranny of ours is not able to anything over 425 please stop unless u have proof because my source is the best thing we have and if we find someone that speaks german than we probably canget even more info if someone wants to contact brabus and they have been messing with merc trannys for a long time. so EVERYONE THE TRANNY IS NOT GOING TO BLOW UP IF WE PUSH IT PAST 430!

I appreciate the information that you've provided from your source, as the more information is the better. But stating that its NOT going to blow up without any proof is just as bad as saying it will. I wouldn't make statements like that unless I was 100% sure. By that, I believe you should have either first hand knowledge or actual documents. I would hate to be the member that has their tranny blow because you guaranteed that it wouldn't. That being said, until I have actual proof, I would not be modifying my car over the manufacturers suggested maximum of 425. Again, I am not saying your source is incorrect or that I don't appreciate your information, its just that you should want to be sure. If you are 100% sure then that is one thing, but if you are just going on what someone has told you without actual proof, then that is something totally different. I think it is better to be cautious in this situation especially when dealing with one of the major components on the car. Just my .02 and unfortunately I do not know German :p
Now if brabus already took the tranny past 425 how is the manufacturer 425 the maximum and when did dc say the max is 425 all we now is the srt is set to 425 we dont know if it can go past 425 and we dont know if it cant but and i do say but brabus does know becasue they have done it mulitple times so you statement is a statement of fear if your scared of the tranny blowing up dont supercharge it. but a SUPERCHARGING SPECIALIST HAS DONE IT and if you speak GERMAN in which i dont you will have your first hand knowledge.
P.S The guy worked for MB and he has seen the tranny take more than the so called alloted 425 so unless you are a MB tranny specialist thats the best thing we have so far. Secondly no one and again no one has yet to blow a tranny so whats all the fear for, if you scared of being an elitist be a regular JOE.

I'm not trying to get into a flame war about this at all. I just believe that it is irresponsible to tell people that their Tranny will not blow all on something "that a guy I know who works for MB told me". I believe that DC has stated that the MAX it can take is 425/430 at least that is what has been reported on this website for months. Until I have a dyno of a car that is over 425 and has run for say 5000-10000 miles then I am all set in modifying my car over the specs provided. Yes, some SC manufactures have got them working on the C, how many miles have they put on the car since it was SC'ed? Who is not to say that 5000 miles down the road the tranny is gone? I'm sorry I don't have enough money to be replacing tranny's out of warranty. I guess you can call me an average Joe and I am fine with that. To all those who modify their car I wish them nothing but the best of luck and no problems. I hope your "source" is correct because I'm sure within a couple of months mods will be available to put the "C" well over 425. I'm sure we'll see some blazing fast C's putting up some incredible numbers...but a what cost? I'm not willing to void my warranty at the moment anyway so for me its a mute point. Again, thanks for the information.
i understand your position as i myself brought a warranty but its looking as though i am getting a refund and a big boost kit as soon as i have enough expendable money

damnit we need someone that has a 300c and speaks german while also doesnt mind calling germany but i can tell you now if you have a srt 8 put aftermarket exaust and a volant intake your over 432 so the tranny is not going to break not to mention if jet makes a chip in the near future but for the max to 427 as the book says and them rate it at 425 would be hard to believe because dc would have to take in account what if some one added better exhaust and better intake they would still have a warranty so i sure dc engineers took that in account so why whould they already put it at 425 that would be bad planning and costly.

The only Mercedes that I can verify that runs the W5A580 tranny is the G Class Mercedes.

According to The Brabus site you can see that the maximum HP and torque ratings they have been able to gain out of the G Class is 400hp.

The most horsepower I have found a Jag XKR running is 450hp at Coventry Performance

Talk is cheap, facts on the other hand are facts. Neither company provides dyno graphs or concrete evidence either.

Someone needs to find another model of Mercedes that runs that trans, and I'll do some further research to find what sort of torque and HP people are running through them.
I do see that also but you have to remember this trans was used in 98 to 02 now there on to bigger and better you wont find this on the brabus site its old to them thats why i said you have to contact them because they have no use for it now its a five speed there on seven speeds why would they list our trans now they wouldnt but thanks for checking now if you can get to someone in germany we on to something

Was that last post really necessary? All I asked for was proof that it could be done and not just "some guy told me so". A blown tranny is not something that I want to deal with, especially if I am outside the warranty. BTW, I see you are from Philly, how did that Super Bowl work out for you? :p

For one the message was not directed to you but if you will humor me your the patriots you were favorited by alot not alittle alot now how bout that ass whipin on nat TV boston took this weekend by the sixers and we are not even a premier team but we beat yall.

" He whipped Joe lewis's ass, Joe lewis got his ass whipped, Joe lewis was 142 when he faught I dont know how old he was but he got his ass whipped."

Dont hate the matrix it will just consume you!

Here we go with the doubters again

I'm just playing with you...and I'm not an NBA fan anyway :p . But I agree with the others, still wouldn't want to be the first on the block without known run time in the C. I will be keeping mine stock anyway as I'm not about to void my warranty. Again, good luck to all who take the dive.
its all in good fun i glad you didnt take it personal this site gets me through my day at work and it helps me with midnight. (my black 300c)

Oh no - here we go again with the wishful thinking! :D

It's not like I got a horse in this race. My 300C is bone stock, and will stay that way with very few exceptions. It's just that I have learned the hard way (which is the very painful and expensive way) about the perils of custom adaptation.

You see, for the past 10 years, I have been working on having my 1966 Chevy pickup restored. All the while, I have driven it daily the 54 miles that comprises my commute too and from work, here in Phoenix, Arizona. And I've learned - when you make changes to engineered systems based on assumptions, guesses, conjecture, rumor or anything other than hard and substantiated fact, you take the risk of the system failing. From first-hand experience, I can tell you that these failures can be very expensive, extremely inconvenient, and in truth, heart-breaking when it's your "baby" that's left you stranded and broke.

So do whatever you want! Put in a supercharger, a chip, twin turbos, nitrous and a radical cam and see what happens. It won't be me comin' to pick ya up along the side of the road, an' I won't be the one payin' the bill.... :)
Look Grasshopper a wise man once said if you scared of the world stay in the house.

If your scared to modify than drive stock and leave the dangerous stuff the grown ups. lol

Lesson learned young padowan.
