Someone from Mopar tracked me down and put me in touch with Dynatech.
I know some people have put Dynatech headers for the 5.7L on their SRT-8's, and had limited success.

Dynatech is using my car to build new headers specifically designed for the 6.1L. In addition, we're shipping the Magnaflow cat back system straight to Dynatech, so they can develop and test the best possible exhaust system from the headers, all the way out the back of the car. They'll be dyno'ing before, after, before, after, before, after . . . . . .

I'll let you know what they end up with. They're picking my car up today, and will have it for a couple weeks of development.

JMatt,

I am glad to see somebody on the board doing it. I was going to send our MSRT-8 there, but then we ended up with some issues on what we where going to do with it. I have talked to John out there many times about this and I think you car is going to be in great hands. I look forward to seeing the results.

Agreed - these guys appear to be the tops in the header business. I'm not expecting miracles, but I should have the ultimate exhaust system to support future engine mods. I know other people haven't had much success with headers yet, but they also haven't had the availability of headers tuned to our engines.

Damn Matt that's awesome! Definitely let us know all the details. Whatever they tell you regarding header difference and I don't even have to tell you....

....Dyno numbers please. :D

I still think headers can benefit over the stock manifolds.

Wow JMatt, another pioneer in our midst!
When I did the R & D project with Hotchkis Performance they only had my car 2 days... a few weeks, yikes!! I'm sure it will be worth it for you though, congratulations! :friday:

Thanks Hemee. I have no problem with the timeframe. I want them to have enough time to do whatever it takes to make the best setup possible.

The downside is I have to drive the 911 as my commuter vehicle for a couple of weeks. Life isn't so bad.

(I just love the banana dude)

Well - my car is gone.

They'll dyno it monday to get some baseline numbers. Then they're going to see what new tooling they need to get the job done right. Depending on tooling needs, they can either start building right away, or they'll order tooling and bring my car back until the tooling is available. Start to finish should take three to six weeks.

Anyone who tries to use a 5.7L header on the 6.1L engine is currently covering part of the exhaust ports on the heads - perhaps without realizing it. They fit - but obstruct the ports. I should be able to post my car's baseline dyno charts by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Hey JMatt, they used our Charger to ensure Charger fitment way back in May, these guys do great work and definately respect your car. A pleasure to work with.
