Well, the 3 way set is in. I went with the JL Audio XR653-CS and I am so far very excited. The rears are not in yet, I blew the Clif Design 6x9s, they are cheesy, I am waiting on the new JL 6.5 COAX.

I told the owner of the shop to put the tweets where he thought they would sound the best with limited area to put them. I have the 4" midrange in the factory locations in the dash (yes there was some cutting!), 6.5s in the door with a wood baffle, and the tweets in the doors pointed to the driver. The crossovers that come with the 3 way set has a -3 DB setting for the tweets, and that is the setting that was used.

The sound stage is very nice, I am enjoying them much beter than the Coax speakers I had in there before. The highs are much louder and brighter, and the midbass is not too bad. They are run by the 150x2 of the JL 450.4 in the trunk...

If anyone is interested I ave a set of the Kicker Midbass 8" that sound VERY good in the front doors. If I was to keep them, I think it would work with a 8" in the Door, then a 4" component set in the front dash (the Boston pros, or the ADS would be a good start!). With the right power the bass sounds like it is coming from up front!

sweet sweet sweet.. how do you like the sound of the head unit?
I like it alot... It is easy to use (although there are probably a ton of things I have not tried to use yet...), and I like being able to watch a video and listen to Sirius at the same time...

It does not seam like there are a bunch of people on this site that care about the audio or video system in these types of autos because I rarely get a response. I guess that I am in the minority since I would take $4K in audio and nothing in performace rather that the other way around. That being said....

I wanted to at least give a report about the JL 3 way system and amps I chose for the car. They are by far the best I have used together (except for the DYNAUDIO 3 way I had in a previous car and they are 4 times the money too) and they sound sound unreal. I did not want booming knock your trunk off bass. I wanted good tight bass with screaming mids and highs and clarity throughout. I think I did a nice job of it!

For the Head unit, I have the Kenwood in dash non flip DVD, for speakers up front I have the JL 3 way set that has the 2x6.5" in the door, sx4" midrange in the factory dash locations and a tweeter in the door. For the rear fill I went with the VR line of JL Audio 6.5" with a fabricated 1/4" baffle to convert from the 6x9 hole... And for bass one JL Audio 8w7 woofer in an enclosure in the trunk firing into the deck hanging from the rear deck. For amps one JL 450.4 and one 500.1.

All in all with Ebay, install and parts from the local audio shop Soundwerks in PHX, I am at $3700 (Damn that would have bought me a fast ass car...

All in all I cannot beleive the awesom sound Q and I am very excited to add the rear view camera I got this weekend, and hopefully soon a couple more monitors.

If you have an comments questions or if you want to just verbally abuse me, go ahead I can take it. :)

Do you have any pics of the 8 sub and box mounted? I'm interested to see some details on how you did this. I tried a free-air 8 in the factory rear deck location but it didn't give me the sound that I wanted.

I'm also having a problem with my amps making my headlights and interior lights dim. Probably need to install a capacitor.

By the way, I may end up selling this box with or without the sub, so if anyone is interested let me know. It holds one $300.00 JL 8 W7. There is no rattle because the sub fires into the car, the box is very very tight, and the bass is super. If you want a BOOMING teeth rattling bass, this is not the setup for you... If you'd rather have very tight, accurate and deep when appropriate, this is the set up for you.
