Well, the 3 way set is in. I went with the JL Audio XR653-CS and I am so far very excited. The rears are not in yet, I blew the Clif Design 6x9s, they are cheesy, I am waiting on the new JL 6.5 COAX.
I told the owner of the shop to put the tweets where he thought they would sound the best with limited area to put them. I have the 4" midrange in the factory locations in the dash (yes there was some cutting!), 6.5s in the door with a wood baffle, and the tweets in the doors pointed to the driver. The crossovers that come with the 3 way set has a -3 DB setting for the tweets, and that is the setting that was used.
The sound stage is very nice, I am enjoying them much beter than the Coax speakers I had in there before. The highs are much louder and brighter, and the midbass is not too bad. They are run by the 150x2 of the JL 450.4 in the trunk...
If anyone is interested I ave a set of the Kicker Midbass 8" that sound VERY good in the front doors. If I was to keep them, I think it would work with a 8" in the Door, then a 4" component set in the front dash (the Boston pros, or the ADS would be a good start!). With the right power the bass sounds like it is coming from up front!
