Apparently not, according to TfL. The new T (toxicity) charge in London comes into force on 23 Oct and will be applied to all non-compliant vehicles entering the central zone. When checking my registration on the TfL website, I was informed that my car did not meet Euro 4 emissions. My V5C document makes no mention of Euro 4, although it does provide the actual emissions data which is well within Euro 4 (and for that matter Euro 5 also). I suggest that if anyone is contemplating driving into central London on, or after 23 Oct that they check the TfL website before a penalty notice arrives on their doormat.

Strange...
Just checked mine and it meets the T charge, but it fails on the ULEZ (ultra low emission zone).
However there is no mention how much it costs and when it starts.

TFL site has a section for T charge, type in your reg and check, mine is clear 06 CRD.

Black CHRYSLER 300C CRD

You are not subject to the T-Charge.

Your vehicle meets at least the Euro 4 / IV standard (Euro 3 if you are a motorised tricycle or quadricycle). You do not need to take any action. However, other charges may apply.

and LEZ
Black CHRYSLER 300C CRD
No charge due for this vehicle

This vehicle either meets the required emission standards, is exempt from the scheme or is subject to a 100% discount.

ULEZ - Failed

DMC - did you use upper case? Mine was not found in lower case....

I think it's all a scam to make more money. Despite not liking your dirty diesels it is a disgrace - you either ban them or wait for the majority to be too old and scrapped rather than just tax people.

My lpg burner 300 is in the same boat yet it runs on waste gas from refineries or rigs which for years they flared off. How is that bad ? Natural wastage will sort it on numbers and the well looked after vehicles that survive are probably not spewing as much as a highly abused 3 year old car.

Rant over

This is the site I tried before (several times), but now it comes up with the right answer. It is not case sensitive. The fact remains that the V5C doesn't mention Euro 4 and other than going via the TfL website I haven't found another method for obtaining this information, apart from using the actual emission data on the V5C.

Does anyone know which cars (if any) are effected by T-charge? We already pay for congestion charge around the City of London but we'll be moving to Sherwood Forest, its tax free down there!

As a rough guide, pre-2005 cars will be liable. And as for Sherwood Forest, isn't that outlaw country?

There was an interesting article on the BBC News website yesterday, concerning EU emission standards. It may come as no surprise to many, that vehicles are engineered to pass tests in a controlled laboratory environment, but when let loose on the open road, emissions can skyrocket. This has been confirmed by a company that specialises in real driving tests. The worst offender was a Nissan Qashqai, where its emissions on the open road were a massive 18X its EU6 specified values. It was also shown that an old (I think 2009) car in real driving tests had lower emissions than many current EU6 cars. The only car tested where open road emissions were within specified values was a Mercedes.

A few more tests

Picked out a couple of CRDs on Autotrader; an 06 reg was non-compliant but an 09 was OK. I think TfL will need to do some more work on their database before it goes live next week, otherwise some motorists may be in for a surprise.

I bet a lot of city drivers are unaware of this roll out. TFL should have done a lot more in terms of its roll out as I've seen only a few bill boards and nothing in the Metro.

I just checked the reg on my 2009 CRD and it was fine. Then I checked my wife's 2009 Dodge Nitro CRD and it couldn't match the reg so I had to enter the vehicle manually. I only got as far as entering the age as it came back with the message below.

The TfL website states that any car registered after 31 Dec 2015 will be Euro 4 compliant....... but it is declaring my 56 reg to be non-compliant. I forgot to mention that in order to access the TfL website, I first have to disable my antivirus software which is blocking TfL for having an out of date security certificate. Be interesting to see what happens next week, but I have no intention of being one of the guinea pigs.

Hi Just saw your thread, I have a 2008 plate 300c 3.0L crd SRT version, put my plate details on the TFL site, and it says my vehicle is compliant BOT ULEZ and LEZ, I was gob smacked, I do not know if this is an error or not.

Should be an error as the requirements are Euro4 for Petrol and Euro6 for diesels (Link). Given Euro6 diesels only came in September 2015 none of the UK CRDs are Euro6

TFL have had plenty of time, since my OP, to fix their website, but I still wouldn't trust it. All academic for me, as I have no intention of venturing anywhere near the affected zones.
Just a thought: Will EU regulations be enforceable on vehicles in the UK, once we have left the EU?
