Just wondering if [email protected] has come out with an air filter for the Magnum SRT-8??? I usually go with the [email protected] cold-air intake, but after having it on my 04 SRT-10 (Ram) I was not impressed at all. Alot of SRT-10 owners went back to the stock intake, claiming better air flow. If anyone could tell me if there is a site that sells the air filters, I would greatly appreciate it .thanks John

Thanks Nexus. Being that they are the same motor, there wouldn't be any difference right???? The reason I'm asking is because they have no listing on that web-site for a [email protected] filter for the Magnum SRT-8. Strange huh????

I would guess that the airbox is the same for the Charger SRT8 and 300C SRT8...but I'm not 100%. Better check just with some of the Charger guys just to be safe.

you could just check with any parts store.....Napa or whatever.... and see if the part number for the regular replacement filter is the same for both cars; obviously if they are then the K&N would be the same too.

Washable & Reusable?

Nexus-6 said:
I'm running a K&N filter in mine - more out of habbit then anything else. Probably very little to no gain but there is a small sound improvement.

Can't remember where I bought mine...a five second Google search came up with this though :

Are all K&N filters washable and reusable like the one in the link above? Are these better than the stock filters? What's the replacement air filter of choice for our Vixens?

The air filters are all the same....even for the 5.7's:fing02:

.............Got my K&N filter from my Dodge dealer. I did not believe they all used the same size filter till the service manager showed me. Only the tubing and boxes are different between them all Maggies, Chargers, 300's, 5.7's & 6.1's.....the air filters are the same.

All the 6.1s' have the same boxes and primary tube's, but the 300 has some appendix that is supposed to reduce engine noise since it is a "luxury model compared to the Charger's & Maggies which are meant to have a more sporting & utilitarian ergonomic.

I Switched from K&N.......

I switched from _&_ ( used them for years ), after reading somewhere about reuseable air filters,
to Tru Flow Filter, I use the dropin on my modified airbox. The TruFlow is also
a "Lifetime" filter, washable, reusable, etc. But it is made from foam.Cost is about the same.
Report said it filtered much better on the smaller particles, even
as it began to get dirty. I've only had it on for 1k miles, can't really tell much ,
'sound' is just as good as the _&_.Just have to "Wait & See "

NOTICE/ RETRACTION
-Tried to find report, unable to do so...
Disregard any inference that any thing I may have said
concerning K&N air filters,or any other air filter . You can make your own decisions,
I'll stick with the Tru Flow.

Is there an online link to that report?

I've tried to find that report, but haven't done so.
I have posted a retraction the on air filter post I did ( listed above).
I would not want to cause any undue confusion towards any certain
product without facts to do so.

Is that 21.09 rwhp? If not, how does it relate to rwhp? The GSM equivalent is getting 10-14 rwhp.

NE1 know why the 63-1114 Air Charger is off-road rated as compared to the 57-1542 which is street legal?

I posted questions regarding the KW filters and CAI about 3 weeks ago. You can probably search and find it.

Responses discouraged me from getting either product. One responder stated that the KW filter did slightly increase gas milage with increased air flow (less restricted than stock filter), but added that it allows too many particles in and does not filter very well, thus potentially effecting many aspects of engine performance, especially related to longevity.

The cold air intake (CAI) that KW claims 21+ hp (is that on the 5.7 I believe?), also responders stated that the KW claims are not really backed up with real world, engine specific dynos. That the claims are somewhat exagerrated and that there are issue with the CAI intaking H2O on wet streets etc.

It seemed the one issue that most responders agreed upon was there is increased sound, more "muscle" sound, especially with the CAI.

I have not ruled out either product, but at this time, I am biding my time. Dont want dirty oil and particles floating around the engine as related with the KW air filter, and certainly dont want water intake into the CAI impacting engine performance.

Good luck men and ladies!

rule of thumb

a basic when considering any filter is if it flows more then it simply cannot filter as good!

K&N is not a bad filter, just not as good as some finer paper elements. Their claims about RWHP are just about junk, though. Most members here have read the data. When actually compared on a dyno they are not really any better on our cars.

If you like that roar, get an intake setup! Just don't get noise confused with speed!

I put the Aircharger on last weekend and it appears the throttle response seems quicker and it seems easier to kick-down than before. I also feel more wheel spin with the same pedal pressure from stops. :D

It may not provide the claimed 21.09HP, perhaps a little less HP but it can be a fun thing to play with. And having fun with your HEMI is a good thing to have else we would all be driving Taurus's or Malibu's. :D
