This morning I took my 300 into the dealer to get the brakes fixed. I also brought in my spare keyfob, which appeared to be dead. It turns out that it was working fine; the car no longer recognized it. I paid $167 to get it (or the car?) reprogrammed, and all is again fine. I am concerned about two things.
- Did I waste my money paying the dealer to do something I could have done myself for free?
- I have a Mopar Maxcare extended warranty, which according to my Googling this morning, covers replacement of up to 3 keyfobs. How is it that a living but no-longer-paired keyfob costs me $167, but a completely dead one is replaced under warranty?
