Has anyone heard of lowering the car? i need to enter it into the DUB Carshow and their rules are the car has to dropped. has anyone dropped their baby yet and has Eibach come out with Springs

I believe the few cars you already see lowered have either prototype springs from say Eibach or another company or they are doing it the old fashioned way - cutting the springs to make them shorter! If you are desparate, find a shop that will cut your springs. Of course the results may be mixed or hit or miss and be prepared to order some extra ones or replacement springs. Good Luck.

Talked to Eibach yesterday, they should have the springs available early August. The ones on the DUB car are Ebach but not the final product (according to the tech I spoke with), he did ot even know what the final drop would be.

You might want to consider spring compressors (sp?) .. I have no experience with them but I have seen some applications that you clamp the spring for one turn and it lowers it a little, ... might be an option to cutting .....

I think you should cut your springs for right now, and then put the eibachs on when they come out. Eibachs ride real nice. ...my .02

I would love to have a ride height adjustment. In stock form, the car needs to be lowered an inch or two, but come winter time, I would want to raise it back up for the extra clearance.

I am surprised you guys suggest cutting the springs as that is illegal in OZ. I would also be worried that you would mess with the ride and handling too much as you are changing the characteristics of the springs. In the absence of lowered aftermaket springs being available we have specialist Spring Works companies who will heat treat the springs and set them for a lower ride height (guess that changes the characteristics too eh?) The Spring Works do the job quite cheaply too.

We spoke with Dub about how they had lowered all of their cars and they cut the springs on every single one and said they still road and handled good. Eibach should have a kit out in about 2-3 months.

I would not cut the springs unless you plan on replacing them. Cutting is usually asking for trouble, especially if you like messing around in the car. Then again, if you plan on only using the car in shows, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Hey indyCoder, your response got a chuckle at this end. .

Yeah I did the same thing a few years back with real dark tint. I guess the other thing to be considerate of is if you have a collision and the cops check out the car and find the illegal mods. Then you are in trouble.

I have no interest in tinted windows but I just cannot understand the reason why there is a law against them.
I used to drive a Dodge Van without any windows, as pictured below.
If tinted windows are illegal, then vans without windows should be illegal.
If you replaced all your windows with sheet metal you would be legal (or is there a law against that?).
Tint the windows - illegal.
Does not compute.

As far as I know, it is legal in any state to tint the rear and rear side windows as dark as you want as long you have TWO outside mirrors. hell you can even paint them black if you want to. There are some states where you cant tint the front windows at all and others allow up to 35%.
