I just read where the SRT8 comes standard with Mobil 1 from the factory. Is this true? If so, does the 6.!L SRT8 engine have the Mobil 1 oil fill cap on it?

There are many of us that have switched to synthetic Mobil 1 Oil in our engines and was wondering if this cap is available.

Anybody know? What about you SRT8 owners...Is it on your engine as standard equipment? Will it work on the 5.7L Hemi? :wave:

Yes it does have the Mobil 1 on it, so it must be available. but it says 0W-40 on it as well.

Well. I guess that is "Good News" and " Bad News" huh? Is it a decal that says the viscosity grade or what? Can it be altered any? I would still like to get the cap if it say Mobil 1 on it. Maybe block out, or rub out the oil grade. I wonder if there are any caps that would fit our 5.7L Hemi engines? I just looked at the cap that is on my Corvette, and it is a different type and indeed it does say the oil viscosity 5W30 on it. And yes, if it lcan be altered or modified to eliminate the callout. My son has an SRT4 and he put on a Viper oil fill cap on his engine and it says 10W30 on it. I guess I should see if it will fit on my 5.7L engine.

Get yourself a Dymo Labelwriter and make a label and stick the damn thing on your oil cap and make an extra label with your name spelled backwards and stick that one on your pocket protector so when you look in the mirror, you can remember your name as well. WTF

This was just an inquiry regarding engine dress up...no big deal! Chances are neither of you two know what Mobil 1 synthetic oil is anyhow!

As a follow-up to my original inquiry...I stopped in at my local Chrysler/Jeep dealer yesterday. I went to the parts department and questioned if indeed the SRT8 oil filler cap would fit and is it available. Well, the counter guy checked for me, and yes it says Mobil 1 on it. It costs $5.99 with my Chrysler employee discount. Not in stock, so I said order me one, Please. The guy gives me a strange look, says to wait a moment. He comes back and says that the part is on RESTRICTION, and can only be ordered by someone owning an SRT8, and must supply the proper VIN Number from the vehicle. What the Hell? I tell him this is only an oil fill cap... He says sorry, that's the story. I go into the showroom looking for an SRT8 that they had on display...I wanted to check out the engine compartment to see just how this bad boy looks on the engine.
Gone. Sold it a few days ago. Oh well, no big deal, it just shows how ridiculous some of the employees at dealerships are. Just had to pass this on to the Forum faithful. :silly:
