Found this through browsing through links over at the chargerforums.com regarding hood scoops....
Ive been looking for a hood scoop for sometime for my 300c (please hold the criticism) and havent come up with anything. RC was talking about producing one, but I dont think that was ever a go, so the endless search continues.
Found this one, but idk how it would look on the car, perhaps someone can try and photoshop it for me?
Im worried about the scoop fitting over the raised "rib" in the center of the hood, and looks like this scoop would accomidate it with minor modifications, but correct me if Im wrong.
Please let me know what you think, heres the link

IMO, that center portion of the hood scoop would actually look pretty good with the hood's center rib, and the scoop's dimensions appear to be relatively efficient. Would you be also actually punching holes/vents through your hood in order to lessen drag and increase effectiveness? :fing02:

Having had the real scoop

on my '72 Demon (340/375 hp, cam headers, etc.) and making it funcional, it was a pain in the ass to do. Mine was running the sixpak, but the original scoop had only two holes coming through.

We made it so there was the actual vacuum sealed tub under it that rested on top as part of the air filter system for the three 2bbl's.

With EFI there really isn't much you could do to make it "functional" unless you are defining "functional" as simply cutting a hole in your hood. Your Air Intake system does a better job than that hood scoop would do of getting colder air into the engine.

well origionally i was going to have my local custom shop the scoop for me(www.dreamakerskustom.com), but i still had to pick a general design for a scoop that i wanted.
ill probably pick up the scoop, although theres a couple other mods id like to get done first, and depending on the fitment of it and how much custom fabrication is needed to install it, ill see where i go from there.
if it needs alot of work to make it fit with the contours of the car, and if its not too ridiculously priced to essentially cut a hole in my hood (im sort of nervous about it) i will make it 'functional'.
if they need to repaint my entire hood, im thinking i mind as well get the back wing shaved off, and then do a 2 tone paint job. like i said im still debating over this, but ill surely let you guys know how it works out!

chasb......i seriously hope your kidding about painting it the 70's hemi orange, lol.
if i do decide to do a 2 tone paint job, id keep black on the bottom (to match my black rims) and split it with white on the top, or this new (well idk how 'new' it really is, but i havent seen it much) paint job that resembles marble.

...personally i love my ride being all black right now, giving it that 'bat mobile' effect, but i really want a hood scoop and if the hood needs repainting it makes sense to just spend a couple extra bucks and just go for a 2 tone job, right?

As for the two tone paint. There is a dude that drives a signature in my area that has a very nice two tone job—with black on the bottom and silver fading in on the top. I didn’t think I would like a two toner, but this one is very well done. I like how there isn’t a sharp line between colors-if that makes any sense.

You could certainly do the engine shroud in the traditional hemi orange, etc and maybe some other under the hood stuff to make it look like the old 426et when they pop the hood!!

Think of the looks you'll g

bagged-yes i plan to put one on my blacked out 300c (check the mods in my signature, although thats only a few of them)

chasb-ive already done my cover in HEMI orange, and plan to do the brake calipers in the same orange before the weather up here gets ugly. i also have a custom hemi orange accented 300C badge in my interior, staying with the classic hemi orange theme your describing. most people dont understand it, but true mopar fanatics definatly can appreciate it.

You said it

The hemi did more for "orange" than Florida did.

How about some pics?

chasb, ive been meaning to take pictures for some time of my C, and i will definatly get around to it before the weather gets too unsightly in NY.
i have a picture of the hemi orange custom emblem, i just need to resize it. it is the same "300C HEMI" badge that is on our trunks, but the backround is orange instead of that dark silver. and im sure you can imagine what a hemi orange hood cover looks like with a chrome dress up kit.

I'm getting nostalgic

It's going to look aswesome.

I think NR has an orange shroud as well.

Of course I'm old enough to have actually raced with guys who had the original 426 orange crate under the hood. We had three of them in our drag club in 1969.

Two Roadrunners and a GTX

chasb....yes NR does have a hemi orange engine cover, as well as many other members of this forum. i dont think you were a member on here yet to remember the whole 'lets paint my engine cover hemi orange' phenomenon......

its a very easy and fun mod to do, not to mention cheap (about $15-20 total). just go to any paint store (or walmart) and get some krylon high temp spray paint, primer, and clear coat.
actually i believe the orange i used was called 'chevy orange' but it still looks the same. several coats of primer, paint and clear coat and you will have yourself that orange hemi you remember as a kid.
you will definatly get a little more 'wow' next time you pop the hood ;)

Well, I spoke with my body/paint job yesterday, and they're certainly willing to do a custom-install of this particular hood scoop for me. :fing02:
