Hi gang.
Just back in and I see Nicole has kept some of the members with big egos intertained!
Anyways.....my neighbor bought a 300C about a week after I got mine. He pulled up the other day and says,hey...listen to this. He had me listen by the driver side front tire. There is a "knocking" sound that can be heard. When he revs it up you do not hear it. Just when it is at idle.
So....we walk into the garge and I start mine. Nothing. We take it out for a spin. I pull back inside and he says wait!!....listen. Sure enough. I get out and put my fat head down by the wheel and there it is on MY car!!! It seems to be best heard when parked close to another car, wall, etc so you get the echo.
Is this normal??? Anyone else have it? It is kinda hard to explain....it is not quiet a rod knock and not a injector "click". I plan on taking mine in next week. Car has only 3300mi on it. It has its second fill up of Mobil 1 syn. 5W20.
I hate to think the worst and know from past dealings with dealers about this kind of thing that it will probably be put off the first 10 times as "normal" till they own up to a problem.

Take care,Stan

I think we all got that sound, it's from the aircondition, turn your air off & BUyaa!! No more sound....has to do with something kicking on in order not to damage the air. Hope this helps... :wink1:

Yip! I got that same sound. I have alittle over 6000 miles on mine. Just the other day my wife tells me she's noticing that the clicking and knocking sound is getting louder. I went outside to check it out and sure enough it is very loud. It's an ugly sound! Almost like an old used engine.IMO. I will be taking it to the dealer to have it checked. I will let u know what they tell me.

funny i was about to post about my problems with this 'ticking' noise, if thats what you really want to call it. mine is more like a loud fan, but it still sounds horrible when the car is running and parked. i have roughly 35K on her, so i assume that could be a contributing factor. i plan on taking it into the dealer (who has excellent service i might add) before my warranty expires because it is really annoying me. i dont think the noise im hearing is the same ticking noise you guys are talking about, but i have also heard what you are referring to.
perhaps when i add an intake and exhaust this will help make things sound a lil better when idle????

Wow....ok...it sounds like my neighbor and I are not alone on this. It is most noticeable on these two C's from the driver side front tire. It seems to only do it after the car is warmed up and then just let it sit and idel for a few mins.

Like I said in my earlier post....I will be taking it in on monday morning to have the service guys at the dealership take a listen. I will share what they think it is here so maybe it can help out others in the group.

Like one of the replys stated...it sounds like a motor with LOTS of milage on it. It is strange that it goes away with just the slightest bump of the gas (a low rev to say 1000rpm). It makes me think it could be the lifters "bleeding down" but it sounds more like a "knock" to me. We will see.

Just a side note....when I called in to the srvice dept. the first thing the tech asked was what weight oil I had in it. He stressed the use of only 5W20 in the MDS Hemi.

Take care

Not the A/C Cruz.....because I did not have it on and neither did my neighbor. So....it just seems strange that two cars would have the same sounds....must be normal!!! LOL
Take care.
Do you have it on "AUTO" ????/ when mine is in auto it makes that sound, when not in AUTO or A/C, no more sound...perhaps it's a different sound you are talking about, but it won't hurt to try :wink1:

Ok, under the hood is a big metal thing with moving parts that are touching each other only seperated by a film of oil. In addition there are explosions inside o this big metal thing happening many thousands of times each minute. It's gonna make some noise, especially a pushrod

Mine does it, noticed the other day with the hood up - sounds like lifter knock at idle only, give a little gas it goes away.
It's normal for this motor - no worries here until I can hear it from the driver's seat.

I hope this is not a similar problem which has plagued GM with the LS1, ie. "Piston slap", which is heard at idle and low revs.

That has been a huge problem with the LS1 motors along with high oil consumption.

Not to worry, Hemi57. It's merely lifter noise, as several members stated above--a no-extra-cost standard feature of all LX Hemis. :)

If you hear it ticking faster and/or louder when you blip the throttle THEN it's time to get it checked. Oil's clean, not low? Starts easily, takes off like a bat out of h*ll with no hesitation, coughing, spitting, rinse? Not to worry. You want a silent motor, get a Camry...

Engine Noise

Anyone have a loud "Fan" type noise after the A/C been on for awhile. Moved near Palm Springs a couple of months ago and average temp is 105 daily. Have the Hemi engine, was told it was normal by dealer. I would feel better if other owners can tell me that.
